Lakland's Skyline basses have never stopped amazing us: the playabillity, tone and level of finishing and detail realy are something else at this pricepoint. And for those who are not familiar with the Chicago based Lakland yet, here a shot intro; for many years, Lakland has been the choice for the biggest players in the game. To name a few; Darryl Jones (The Rolling Stones), Geezer Butler (Black Sabbath), Adam Clayton (U2), Nate Mendel (Foo Fighters), Ben Kenny (Incubus) en Tim Commerford (Rage Against The Machine). The USA basses are one-off, fully handmade tone-machines, but for those who are on a smaller budget and in search of an great bass nontheless, the bang for a buck are Lakland's Skyline basses; built to Lakland USA specs in Indonesia and finished by Lakland in Chicago where final assembly is done for Laklands own design USA hardware and pickups and where all instruments are being "plek'ed" (computer automated leveling of the frets).

The 44/5501 en 44/5502 models are Lakland's own design basses and have active pickups on board. 44 or 55 specifies the amount of strings (4 or 5...), 01 or 02 specifies the model of which the 02 is the luxurious choise. The differences between the 01 and 02 model are the pickups, pre-amps and finishing. The 02 is the flagship model of the Skyline range. This 4402 Deluxe features; handwound USA Lakland LH3 pickups and pre-amp, ash body with quilted maple veneer top, maple neck with maple fingerboard, 1.6" nutwidth, 34" scale, 10" radius, Hipshot tuners and Lakland USA Dual Access bridge.
