The Austrian Audio Hi-X50 is a professional, closed-back reference headphone for live and studio mixing. The Hi-X50 is an on-ear model, which means that the ear cups lie on your ears. The advantage of an on-ear model is that the headphones are smaller (easier to take with you), lightweight and therefore slightly cheaper. And sometimes people just like it when the ear cups lie on your ear, instead of over it.
The headphone drivers have a newly designed Hi-X technique (High Excursion), this provides a nice, tight low end. Note: these headphones are tuned for an analytical audio reproduction. This means that it is a nice, flat response monitor sound. So do not expect deep full-bodied bass and treble hi-shelf treble. These are not hi-fi headphones. These headphones are designed for critical mixing of your live or studio mix to get a well balanced sound. The construction of the headphones is solid; so these headphones can take a beating!
