Vic Firth drumstick pair with teardrop tip. From the American Custom Maple Series, the SD10 Swinger stick is the most average in terms of size. Therefor, this stick is a good alternative for someone who usually plays with 5B but is looking for an alternative made of maple instead of hickory.
Relative to hickory sticks, maple sticks are somewhat lighter in weight (lower density) which allows for refined playability, bounce and balance. In addition, maple has a different "wear behavior"; due to its structure, the wood has the ability to "chip" or splinter and typically breaks less quickly along the entire length of the stick.
