The Custom Shop MXR Duke of Tone was designed together with pedal builder Analog Man, for players who want to add a touch of warmth and grit to their sound, while letting the natural sound and feel shine through.
Based on the Prince of Tone Overdrive, the single-channel version of the King of Tone, this pedal is every vintage pedal enthusiast's dream. Analog Mike has personally tested and tuned all the different thru-hole components on the King of Tone Overdrive. The pedal produces a warm, yet clear and open sound that leaves all the nuances of your signal and dynamics intact.
This overdrive has a simple yet effective control interface. Volume, Drive and Tone knobs make it easy to set up a usable sound. There's also a Boost/OD/Distortion switch on it that lets you set the clipping of the pedal.
Boost mode gives you a clean but powerful boost, OD mode adds a touch of grit and compression, and Distortion mode adds a little more of each. In all modes, your amp still sounds like your amp. Be creative: - the Duke of Tone Overdrive is excellent when combined with other gain pedals, and running the pedal at 18V gives you an extra bit of headroom and clarity, especially in Boost mode.
