There are few guitars as iconic and glorious as the Blonde 1952 Telecaster. From the Esquire -with which Fender entered the market in 1950- with only one pickup, the Broadcaster evaluated with two pickups. However, because Gretsch had a drumset on the market with the same product name at the time, Fender removed the Broadcaster decall from the headstock. These "nameless" Broadcasters were nicknamed No-caster until Fender officially renamed this model in 1952 as the Telecaster. The same guitar that we still know today and with which Fender changed the guitar and music world for good.
The Telecaster has been at the root of the indelible signature sound of many world-famous artists and music. And without the 1952 Telecaster specifically, we simply cannot imagine rock-star icons like Bruce Springsteen or Keith Richards.
This Time Machine 1952 Telecaster is an exact and historically accurate reissue. The luthiers at Fender's Custom Shop know better than anyone else how to reproduce this guitar to perfection. In case you're dream of having a real, original vintage 1952 Tele to actually play with? Forget it; it's either unfindable or unaffordable. And so, this is hands down your best option to experience and acquire a guitar like this.
And you know how this sounds. Simply ultimate Telecaster; pointy, twangy, fat bass response and cristal clear, somewhat aggrive top-end. This is the one!
The specifications are as they were in 1952; a two-piece select ash body, a one-piece rift sawn maple neck with a comfortable '57 "soft V" profile, vintage compound radius (7.25"-9.5") fingerboard and 21 narrow high (6105) frets.
Custom Shop hand-wound '50/'51 Blackguard pickups provide perfect vintage-correct tone combined with '51 modified Nocaster wiring, which allows the player to mix both pickups in switch position 1. Other features include a single-ply black phenolic pickguard, '51-'54 Tele bridge with brass barrel saddles, vintage-style tuners, Philips-type screws for the pickguard and neckplate, bone nut, and stringtree. Includes deluxe hardshell case, strap, and certificate of authenticity.
Fender's Custom Shop luthiers have mastered the craft of applying the aged look like no other. This Time Machine 52 Telecaster was orderable in the various Relic finishes. We specifically chose the subtle but highly crafted Journey Man finish.
