AlphaTheta DJM-V5

The AlphaTheta DJM-V5 is a compact 3-channel DJ mixer that clearly bears the DNA of the DJM-V10LF. This mixer is designed for DJs who want to get deep into their mix, with great control over sound, dynamics and effects, but in an enclosure that also fits into smaller DJ booths, home studios and music bars.

Like its bigger brother, the DJM-V5 features 4-band tone control per channel, complemented by trim and a built-in compressor. This allows you not only to shape the frequency spectrum very precisely, but also to control the dynamic behavior of each source. The long 60 mm channel faders, taken from the DJM-V10LF, enable subtle transitions and support a smooth, controlled mixing style.

Sound and internal processing
The DJM-V5 was designed with a clear focus on sound quality. The internal signal processing operates at 96 kHz / 64-bit floating point DSP and uses high-quality 32-bit A/D and D/A converters from ESS Technology. This results in an open, detailed and stable soundstage, even when multiple sources are mixed simultaneously. The mixer remains clean and controlled sounding without quickly saturating the signal.

Filters with XPF
Each channel features a filter with three modes: LPF (low-pass), HPF (high-pass) and the new XPF (cross-pass filter). With XPF, the low frequencies remain intact, while you gradually filter out the mids and highs. This allows vocals, synths and melodic elements to move around in the mix without losing the energy of kick and bass.

Send FX without Beat FX
Instead of a traditional Beat FX section, the DJM-V5 works entirely with Send FX. You have six effects at your disposal: Short Delay, Reverb, Shimmer, Tape Echo, Ping Pong and Echo-Verb. Three of these effects are tempo-synchronized. With these BPM-related effects, the Time button gets distinct click points on musical intervals such as 1/2 and 1/4. One notable change is the additional fader for the effect level. This replaces the familiar rotary knob and controls the amount of effect very precisely. The thick mark represents 100%, fully open goes up to 130% relative to the input signal.

Layout and controls
The layout of the DJM-V5 differs in a number of deliberate ways. The headphone section is located on the bottom right, while the Send FX section is on the left. This provides a clear separation between mixing and effects. The booth output has its own 2-band EQ, so you can also match the monitor output to the room.

Wireless monitoring with SonicLink
Unique to the DJM-V5 is the built-in SonicLink transmitter. This allows you to directly monitor wirelessly with compatible headphones, such as the AlphaTheta HDJ-F10. Latency is extremely low, making wireless cueing feel natural. Pairing is easy via a button on the mixer; future models will even support touch-pairing via the front panel.

Connections and software
The DJM-V5 supports Pro DJ Link and Link Cue, which share BPM information with connected players. Via USB-C, the mixer acts as an audio interface for use with rekordbox or Serato DJ Pro (license required). There is also support for USB Send/Return, including for RMX-IGNITE, and a master insert for external effects equipment. Record via REC OUT, DJM-REC or directly in rekordbox.
