Austrian Audio OD5

The OD5 is really a very innovative piece of gear. The OD5 is the twin brother of the OD7. Whereas the OD5 is a dynamic microphone, the OD7 is a condenser. In its function it is "just" a very good instrument microphone with a gigantic dynamic range and very high SPL value. But what is especially special about this microphone is the design of the head.
Where we are used to a microphone being just one piece, the OD5 is split into 2 parts. The input and the solid metal housing is as we know it, but the head is mounted on it via an extra flexible arm mechanism. This in combination with the very compact head makes that you can position the mic really anywhere and adjust the position to perfection. Changing the distance or direction to the speaker to get a different tone on the guitar has never been easier. Or tucking this mic away in the drum kit without having to bother with aiming it at the snare is now no longer a problem. The Austrian Audio OD5 has a particularly wide frequency range of 20 - 20000 Hz for a dynamic microphone. Thanks to its -10 dB pad and three-stage filter, the OD5 is very suitable for recording close to the microphone. Perfect for loud instruments such as drums and guitar amps.

Fits anywhere

The head can rotate 220 degrees, allowing you to reach any spot in the studio or on stage. Thanks to the active dynamic circuitry, long cables are no problem for the OD5, as long as you turn on the phantom power!
