The OD5 is really a very innovative piece of gear. The OD5 is the twin brother of the OD7. Whereas the OD5 is a dynamic microphone, the OD7 is a condenser. In its function it is "just" a very good instrument microphone with a gigantic dynamic range and very high SPL value. But what is especially special about this microphone is the design of the head.
Where we are used to a microphone being just one piece, the OD5 is split into 2 parts. The input and the solid metal housing is as we know it, but the head is mounted on it via an extra flexible arm mechanism. This in combination with the very compact head makes that you can position the mic really anywhere and adjust the position to perfection. Changing the distance or direction to the speaker to get a different tone on the guitar has never been easier.
