The BF-3 is easy to set its tempo by means of the taptempo function. Also, the BF-3 has a momentary mode. This is activated by keeping the footswitch down
With the different modes you can choose between Ultra, Gate/Pan and Standard so that, for every flanger scenario, there is always something in between.
