Boss Katana - Air EX

The Katana-Air EX is a powerful wireless desktop amplifier that delivers big stereo sound and authentic Katana tones in a compact size. With two five-inch speakers, a custom wood cabinet and 35 watts (*) of maximum power, this handy practice partner provides rich, resonant tones that can compete with amps that are much larger. A wide variety of built-in amps (amp characters) and effects support any style of music. And you can customize setups and enhance daily sessions with the accompanying BOSS Tone Studio app for iOS and Android. And thanks to BOSS' advanced wireless technology, you have all the freedom you need to move around without an instrument cable getting in the way.

This Katana variant is designed to provide an authentic stage experience in desktop format. Two custom-made five-inch speakers are placed in a carefully designed wooden cabinet, generating a full sound with rich resonance normally available only from performance amps. Powerful, high-definition tones give you an inspiring platform for honing natural techniques that translate seamlessly to a stage amp setup. The tuned bass reflex port further increases the versatility of this amp, providing a tight bottom-end response, for low-pitched guitar riffs and electric bass exercises.

The Air EX is packed with sounds derived from the Katana stage amps, tuned for maximum expression with its desktop cabinet. Five unique amp characters deliver tones: from sparkling clean to BOSS' own high-gain Brown sound, along with a special character for electro-acoustic guitar and bass. You also get access to more than 60 BOSS effects, including a wide selection of overdrives, distortions and boosters, plus mod, delay and reverb effects optimized for the amp's stereo speaker system. And with six built-in memory locations, you can save your favorite amp and effect settings and instantly recall them afterwards.

BOSS' acclaimed digital wireless guitar technology is at the heart of the Katana-Air EX, providing transparent sound and lightning-fast response with no lag or drop-outs. The included transmitter offers up to 12 hours of playing time per charge, and the integrated motion sensor and standby function save power when the system is idle. This allows you to keep the transmitter plugged in between sessions, and turn the system on by simply picking up your instrument. When it's time to recharge, simply plug the transmitter into the amplifier's convenient docking port.

The optional EV-1-WL Wireless MIDI Expression Pedal and the FS-1-WL Wireless Footswitch extend the Katana-Air EX experience, allowing you to remotely control functions you assign in the BOSS Tone Studio app. Control volume and wah, change patches and activate the app's practice tools: all with a cable-free connection.

The highly versatile Katana-Air EX flows with all your musical journeys. Built-in Bluetooth® lets you wirelessly edit sounds with the BOSS Tone Studio app and play along with songs you stream from your mobile device. For new inspiration, log on to BOSS Tone Exchange to explore sounds created by other users. You can also record tracks directly into music software via USB and use the stereo line output with mic'd cab emulation for live performances in direct-to-PA setups. Furthermore, the Katana-Air EX also serves as a high-quality portable Bluetooth speaker for relaxing, and enjoying music from your music library.

In addition to its editing features, the BOSS Tone Studio app has integrated tools to enhance daily practice sessions via YouTube video content. Create song lists for quick recall, and create loops to practice certain passages in a focused way. And if you want to jam with backing tracks and songs, automatic memory switching provides a completely new experience. For example, you can set a clean sound for the stanza, crunch for the chorus, and high-gain drive with echo for your solo - and then those sound settings will automatically change during video playback! It's even possible to save your custom switching set-ups with the BOSS Tone Exchange community.
