D'Addario XTB45100 XT Nickel bass strings are among the longest lasting bass strings within D'Addario's range. Thanks to the ultra-thin and abrasion-resistant XT coating, each string is protected from corrosion while fully maintaining its natural playing feel. The coating is so thin that you hardly notice its presence. You play with the feel of an uncoated string, but benefit from significantly longer life.
This Regular Light 4-string set with thicknesses .045 - .065 - .080 - .100 is the most commonly chosen configuration. The combination of playing comfort, tight response and balanced string tension makes this set suitable for a variety of styles, from rock and pop to soul and funk.
The XT series uses a proprietary high-carbon NY steel core. This core delivers exceptional tensile strength and elasticity, making the strings up to 42% stronger than conventional bass strings. Combined with Fusion Twist technology at the bale end, the strings stay in tune better and are more resistant to breakage, even under the heat and stress of a live performance. They stay in tune up to 131% better than traditional bass strings.

The nickel plated steel winding has improved magnetic properties. This provides higher output, more dynamic range and a clear, balanced tone. You get clarity, warmth and definition without the high being sharp. The sound remains consistent even after intensive use. D'Addario is the only string manufacturer that draws the wire itself, then coats it and then rewinds it. Other manufacturers apply the coating only after the string is fully made. This method helps ensure even protection over the full length of the string, without affecting tone or playing feel.
The updated XT nanocoating protects against moisture, dirt and sweat. As a result, the strings last up to three times longer and stay sounding fresh longer than traditional strings without a coating. Ideal for bassists who perform or rehearse a lot and want to change strings less often. Each set comes in resealable and recyclable VCI packaging with a unique code for registration within D'Addario's Players Circle program. Production takes place at the New York factory, where the strings are manufactured to strict specifications.
