D'Addario XTB45105 XT Nickel bass strings are designed for bassists who combine light tension on the high strings with extra body in the low end. This Light Top/Medium Bottom set offers a tight, full sound with clear definition and stable response across the neck. Thanks to the ultra-thin XT coating, the strings last significantly longer while maintaining a natural playing feel.

The core of these strings consists of high carbon NY steel. This material delivers high tensile strength and elasticity. Compared to conventional bass strings, XT strings are up to 42% stronger and stay in tune up to 131% better. Combined with the Fusion Twist technology at the bale end, the strings stay in tune better and are less likely to break, even during intensive playing or live use.

The microscopically thin XT nano-coating protects each string from moisture, dirt and corrosion. The coating is barely noticeable and does not affect the sound. You experience the feel of an uncoated nickelwound string, but benefit from a lifespan up to three times longer than traditional uncoated bass strings. The nickel plated steel winding has improved magnetic properties. This provides higher output and a wider dynamic range. The sound is clear with sufficient warmth and balance. The light top strings (.045 - .065) play comfortably, while the medium bottoms (.085 - .105) provide extra pressure and stability in the low end.

D'Addario produces the steel wire in-house, then applies the coating and only then winds the string. This process ensures even protection along the full length of the string. Other manufacturers only coat the string after it is fully wound. The XTB45105 is a longscale 4-string set with thicknesses .045 - .065 - .085 - .105 and is suitable for most standard long-scale electric bass guitars. The set comes in resealable and recyclable VCI packaging with unique code for registration within D'Addario's Players Circle program. Production takes place in the New York factory to strict quality standards.
