D'Addario XTB50105 XT Nickel bass strings are designed for bassists who choose higher string tension and firm, controlled tone. This Medium longscale 4-string set delivers tight lows, clear definition and stable response across the entire neck. Thanks to the ultra-thin XT coating, you'll combine a natural playing feel with significantly longer life.

The microscopically thin XT nanocoating protects each string from moisture, dirt and corrosion. The coating is barely noticeable and does not affect the sound. You play with the feel of an uncoated nickelwound string, while the strings last up to three times longer than traditional uncoated bass strings. Ideal for intensive use in rehearsals and live situations.

The core consists of high carbon NY steel. This material provides high tensile strength and elasticity. Compared to conventional bass strings, these strings are up to 42% stronger and stay in tune up to 131% better. Combined with the Fusion Twist technology at the bale end, the strings remain more stable in tune and are less likely to break, even with firm hitting. The nickel plated steel winding has improved magnetic properties. This provides higher output and a wider dynamic range. The sound is bright with controlled warmth and clear articulation. The Medium set with thicknesses .050 - .070 - .085 - .105 provides extra tension and a solid foundation in the low end, suitable for rock, metal and other styles where tight low end and precision are important.

D'Addario draws the steel wire in-house, then applies the coating and then winds the string. This manufacturing process ensures even protection along the full length of the string. Other manufacturers apply the coating only after the string is fully wound. The XTB50105 is suitable for long-scale electric bass guitars and comes in resealable and recyclable VCI packaging with a unique code for registration within D'Addario's Players Circle program. Production takes place in the New York factory to strict quality standards.
