Duesenberg Starplayer TV Hollow Vintage Burst (Occasion)

This rarely available, fully hollow Duesenberg Starplayer is barely used and is in absolutely mint condition!

With its fantastic Art Deco looks and, above all, its state-of-the-art design and specifications, the Starplayer TV stands proudly as the centerpiece of the entire Duesenberg collection. Within the Starplayer TV family, there are many variants with often minor differences on paper, which nevertheless result in significant differences in practice. As a result, every Starplayer clearly has its own character and raison d’être.

Nothing could be further from the truth for this—fairly rare—Starplayer TV Hollow; this is by far the most distinctive, outlandish Starplayer in the lineup. As its name implies, this is the fully hollow version of the standard “semi-hollow” Starplayer TV with a center block. Additionally, both pickups are Duesenberg Domino P90s, and the guitar features a classic tailpiece as a bridge instead of a tremolo. Not only does this complement the overall classic and traditional design beautifully, but the spruce top would also collapse under the weight and pressure of a tremolo due to the hollow construction.

As a result, the sound is completely different from that of a standard Starplayer TV; much more subtle, “lighter,” and airier, whereas the standard Starplayer TV is a true, heavy-hitting rocker. The Starplayer TV Hollow has a crystal-clear, almost glassy tone on its neck pickup with a very rich, full-range response. The bridge pickup is nice and snappy and transparent. It’s clear that this Starplayer really shines in the hands of a player who mostly plays clean or with a slight edge. 

Last but not least, we have to mention the appearance. While Duesenberg often opts for a bold, sometimes flashy look, the Starplayer TV Hollow is almost understated, yet certainly no less refined and stylish. The classic two-tone sunburst is beautifully complemented by the vintage white pearloid body and neck binding. And be sure to check out that gorgeous birdseye maple back!
