When the Echoplex EP-3 was introduced, guitarists were immediately sold. Not just because of the iconic tape echo effect, but mostly because of the unique timbre that the built-in preamp added to their sound. Soon the EP-3 became a fixture in the rigs of legendary guitarists such as Jimmy Page, Eddie Van Halen and Eric Johnson. Its distinctive preamp gave their tone extra warmth, definition and dynamics.

With the Dunlop EP101 Echoplex Preamp, you bring exactly that legendary sound to your pedalboard. The EP101 accurately reproduces the preamp section of the original EP-3, including a Field Effect Transistor (FET) and the same signal path as the vintage original. The Gain control allows you to boost your signal up to +11 dB. Higher settings also create a subtle asymmetrical clipping that provides natural, musical overdrive.

The Echoplex Preamp runs on a standard 9-volt power supply and features smart power control that ensures constant headroom even when using a battery. Thanks to its robust Phase 90-sized housing, authentic EP-3-style knob, true bypass switching and a bright status LED, this pedal is built for intensive use on stage. So you can enjoy the famous EP-3 sound without having to take your precious vintage copy on the road.
