With the Evans TT16EMAD, you can bring the tone and response of an EMAD Clear Bass batter head to your 16" floor tom converted kick drum! You see, it's always a bit tricky to find a suitable bass drumhead for your converted floor tom.
The Evans TT16EMAD combines a 10-mil single ply of clear film with the EMAD (Externally Mounted Adjustable Damping) system to improve punch and low-end power - especially from smaller kick drums. The EMAD system allows you to quickly adjust the attack and focus of your bass tone without having to detune the tensioners. The edge of the rim is just like that of a tom.
The 16-inch bass drum actually came about because many drummers convert their floortom to a bass drum. However, the disadvantage of a converted floortom is that the tension edges are not the same. This is because a bass drum has deep, thick, wooden tension edges and a floortom has thin metal tension edges. This is also the reason Evans makes these heads for both types.
Please note: The Evans TT16EMAD is made to work with standard 16" floortom hoops and rims, so if you have a 'real' 16 inch bass drum, with a deeper, wider bass drum tension rim then this sheet is not suitable.
