Eve Audio TS108

The ThunderStorm - subwoofer range offers adequate and precise control over the bass frequencies in your room, without any distortion from low port noise since all subwoofers have a passive radiator.

Each ThunderStorm subwoofer has detailed controls such as switchable satellite filters (full range and 80Hz), phase switches (0°, 180°) and variable subwoofer filter frequencies (60....140Hz) so you can tailor the ThunderStorm to your specific room.

The TS108 model has a highly efficient 150W PWM amplifier driving its own 8" woofer. This guarantees a frequency response down to 33Hz (at the low end), up to 300Hz, for a maximum output power of 105 dB (SPL @ 1m).

All in all, the ThunderStorm subwoofers will make any system sound better and more complete.

As with any other EVE Audio subwoofer, you get balanced XLR inputs and outputs (Stereo In and Out, LFE In, LFE/Sub Out) for greater ease of use. In addition, the TS108 also has an unbalanced input for connecting the SC203.

The DSP

It is worth mentioning that the DSP section, which uses a high-resolution BurrBrown converter, only affects the operation of the woofers. The signal path to the satellite speakers is kept purely analog, without any A/D/A conversion. That's why the "Pure Satellite" function, when activated, completely bypasses the subwoofer and DSP filter section and you can only adjust the volume of your satellite.

The included remote control allows you to adjust not only the volume of the subwoofer, but also that of the entire stereo system, while sitting comfortably in your seat.

The passive radiator

The special feature of our extremely powerful and accurate subwoofer is the passive radiator that replaces the usual bass reflex tube. With this design, all audible noise due to air turbulence disappears completely.

Unwanted disturbing tube resonances (at lambda/2 and multiples) are eliminated, which are inevitable when applying the principle of a two-sided tube opening (bass reflex port). The suspension of the passive radiator has a restoring force below its tuning frequency and reduces inaudible excursions in the subsonic range. This in turn results in less intermodulation distortion in the operating range.

The passive radiator allows an especially low tuning frequency or lower cutoff frequency in a very compact cabinet.
