Play every note with full expression
The 49-key keyboard responds not only to touch, but also to pressure, vibrato movements, pitch bending and note release. Thanks to MIDI Polyphonic Expression (MPE), you control each note within a chord individually. Bend individual notes, add vibrato with your fingers, use pressure for dynamic nuances and give phrases an almost acoustic playing feel. Extensive gesture controls include Tap, Press, Pitch Bend, Vibrato, Shake, Strum and Expressive Note-Off. This makes the Osmosis CE feel less like a controller and more like a live instrument.

What is MPE and why does it make a difference?
MPE stands for MIDI Polyphonic Expression. Whereas traditional MIDI often applies expression such as pitch bend, aftertouch and modulation to all notes played at once, MPE treats each note individually. That means you can, for example, bend one note within a chord while other notes remain, or add vibrato, pressure and dynamics separately for each note. This gives a much more natural and instrument-like playing experience, similar to the expression of strings, wind instruments or vocals. Instead of just triggering notes, you shape them as you play. The Expressive E Osmosis 49 CE leverages MPE with various playing gestures such as Press, Pitch Bend, Vibrato and Shake, putting subtle nuances right under your fingers. Combined with compatible software instruments, this opens up new possibilities for sound design, composition and performance not achievable with conventional MIDI keyboards.
Three controllers in one
The Osmosis 49 CE functions as an MPE controller, traditional MIDI controller and DAW controller. As a result, it fits into advanced MPE setups as well as conventional studio setups. The built-in MPE Arpeggiator keeps arpeggio notes independently and expressively controllable, even in real time. Press Glide enables smooth transitions between notes by pressure alone, without traditional portamento behavior. Within your DAW, you have direct control over transport functions, track navigation, devices, mixer parameters and macros. Integration with Ableton Live 12+, Cubase 15+, Bitwig 5+ and Logic Pro 12+ ensures a seamless workflow.
Ctrl-e software ecosystem included
Included with the Osmosis CE is Ctrl-e, a free software environment developed specifically for this instrument. This environment contains more than 900 playable presets that are fully tailored to the expressive capabilities of the keyboard. Each preset features eight pre-assigned macros for direct sound manipulation. The sound library is built with engines from Expressive E, Synapse Audio, AAS, Kilohearts, GForce, Dawesome and Vital, among others. Because Ctrl-e, MPE and traditional MIDI configurations are instantly callable, you can quickly switch between different playing and production workflows.
High-quality construction and comprehensive controls
The white aluminum top combined with black housing gives the Osmosis CE a distinctive look. The control panel features seven encoders/buttons, nine knobs, pitch and modulation sliders and a 4.3-inch color display. In terms of connections, this controller offers DIN MIDI In, DIN MIDI Out/Thru, USB-C and two freely assignable pedal inputs. Power is supplied via USB-C Power Delivery.
