The Fulltone OCD V1.4 is an overdrive/distortion pedal introduced in 2004 and pioneered thanks to the use of a MOSFET opamp. This resulted in an open and dynamic sound, fully revealing the subtleties of your playing and the characteristics of your guitar.
The pedal delivers a powerful and distinct distortion sound, but is also excellent for use as a clean boost. The design is ideally suited to bring out the full potential of a tube amp.
The OCD operates at 9 or 18 volts, with 18 volts providing additional headroom for an even more spacious tone. The HP/LP switch lets you choose between a fuller, British-tinged sound (think Vox or Marshall) or a more transparent sound that stays true to your guitar's original signal.
Eight different versions of the OCD were released between 2004 and 2017. Version 1.4, released in 2009, is a favorite among many guitarists. This version contains a germanium diode that provides richer harmonics, slightly less bass and more control over your sound.
Good news: this beloved version is now available again through the Fulltone Custom Shop. Definitely a pedal you must have heard!
