Hammond XK-7D

The Hammond XK-7D is the ultimate digital Hammond for organists seeking the full B-3 concept in a modern version. With two manuals, a very natural playing response and deeply modeled tone structure, this organ brings the classic Hammond experience to the stage and studio. Equipped with the latest Hammond technology
The XK-7D is equipped with Hammond's newly developed 6 Contacts Long (6L) keyboard, implemented as a dual-manual. Each keyboard uses six mechanical contact points per key and has the same physical dimensions as classic Hammond keyboards. This provides a direct touch and playing feel that closely resembles a vintage B-3. The Virtual Electro Mechanical (VEM) sound engine is the heart of the instrument and works in conjunction with four sets of Harmonic Drawbars, Chorus-Vibrato, Touch-Response Percussion and an updated digital Leslie rotor simulation.

Authentic Hammond sound in detail
The original Hammond organs were known for their characterful imperfections, which in fact later became an essential part of musical expression. In the XK-7D, these characteristics are reproduced in detail. The entire tone generation chain is digitally modeled, including tone wheels, matching transformer, preamp and Leslie. The result is a sound that is rich, vibrant and recognizably Hammond, with all the nuances to match.

Complete control in real time
Thanks to its extensive drawbar sections and deeply adjustable parameters, the XK-7D can be completely tuned to your own taste. Subtle pitch deviations, volume fluctuations and mechanical noises are adjustable, as are tube character and overdrive via the modeled preamp. Additional Key Click and Leakage controls allow very close approximation of the behavior of classic Hammond organs.

Precise modeling of the signal chain
Sound generation starts at 108 digital tone wheels, including extra-high and pedal tone wheels. From there, the signal runs through the matching transformer and preamp to the digital Leslie or through the 11-pin jack to an external Leslie cabinet. The digital Leslie simulates not only the rotor effect, but also airflow and spatial distribution, providing a convincing three-dimensional sound.
