The GO.8 is an automatic switcher that allows you to easily switch eight audio channels, one Midi line and one video line. Ideal for situations where you want to be able to switch between two audio sources, such as computers with sequencers, two B.Beat systems or other sound and/or video sources.
The GO.8 is perfect for live concerts and theater performances where Backing Tracks, Midi and Video tracks need to keep running without interruptions.
Never crash on stage
The GO.8 uses a special gate that detects a crash of the main source and switches to the backup machine in real time, ensuring continuity at all times, even in the event of a failure. Two groups of audio inputs are available (with 8 balanced channels), two video inputs and two Midi inputs. Automatic switching between the two groups is done via a specific SYNCH audio signal (sinusoidal, 1 kHz frequency) on channel 8 of the GO.8. As soon as the absence of this signal is detected, the unit automatically switches to input group B (the redundant source). Switching can also be done manually via the SELECT button on the front panel.
Compact and rugged
Housed in a rugged 19″ steel rack enclosure, the GO.8 offers a choice of 25-pin D-Sub or 6.35 mm TRS input connections, with D-Sub and XLR outputs. The XLR jacks on the front panel provide a DI signal with balanced microphone level, ideal for connection to a snake system. Transformer isolation effectively prevents hum and noise caused by ground loops. At the rear, D-Sub connectors provide balanced line-level connections.
Together with B.Beat to the highest level
Using M-Live's B.Beat series products, you can send the mixed SYNCH signal along with the audio track on input 8 of the GO.8 (via 6.35 mm Jack or DB25). This keeps all outputs of the B.Beat available for use, without sacrificing any output for the operation of the GO.8.
Cascade Management
For complex configurations, multiple GO.8 units can be linked together to create systems with 16, 24 or 32 tracks. In the diagram shown, two GO.8 units are connected in cascade to manage 16 audio channels of the B.Beat PRO16. Midi and video signals are also connected, which the GO.8 can switch in redundancy just like the audio signal.
Also suitable for PCs and tablets
The GO.8 is also suitable for use with computers. In this case, it is necessary to use one of the audio tracks as a Drone signal, so that the GO.8 receives the right signal to switch over in case of a crash of the main computer (Main). This requires recording a separate audio track in the DAW with a technical signal that controls the GO.8. When using two B.Beat units for Backing Tracks, this additional track is not needed. The GO.8 is the ideal device for building a system that is completely reliable and prevents crashes on stage.
SMPTE Track Management
The GO.8 features a function for reading SMPTE timecode as an LTC signal via channel 7 (from both Group A and B), for real-time verification of the timecode value. In addition, the unit's power supply is redundant: two power supplies can be connected to prevent failure of the GO.8 in case of failure of one of the power supplies.
