The MIDI Solutions Relay includes a relay that can be programmed to open or close in response to MIDI events (for eight relays in one rackspace unit, see the MIDI Solutions R8).

fast reed relay is used for a response time of less than 2 ms. The relay contacts are rated at 500 mA. The contacts are available via a connection on the tip and sleeve of a 1/4" mono jack. When switching inductive loads: take precautions that must be taken to avoid back EMF problems.
The relay is programmed by sending the MIDI System Exclusive messages (read the manual on programming for more details). This is easily done with the MIDI Solutions Programming Tools software. Once programmed, the settings are retained even after the power is turned off. The relay can be reprogrammed with new settings as many times as needed.
The relay is MIDI-powered and therefore does not require batteries or power to work with most MIDI products (for more information, read the Power FAQs). A MIDI indicator LED lights up when the product is powered and flashes when MIDI data passes through it.
