The Sennheiser MKE 2 (Beige EW) is a high-quality subminiature condenser lavalier microphone widely used in theater productions, broadcast, presentations and film and video applications. This beige version is designed to be as unobtrusive as possible on the skin, making the microphone barely visible even from a short distance. The microphone is also available in a black color. This microphone is also known as a drop microphone.
Thanks to its unique umbrella-shaped diaphragm, the MKE 2 has excellent protection against sweat and moisture. This makes the microphone very reliable in intensive use, such as live performances or long-term recordings. The omnidirectional pickup pattern ensures that sound is picked up evenly, even when the speaker or performer turns their head or the microphone is not pointed exactly at their mouth.
The MKE 2 has a wide and relatively flat frequency response from 20 to 20,000 Hz, with a subtle high accent for added intelligibility of speech and vocals. The high maximum sound pressure level of 142 dB keeps the sound clean and distortion-free, even with loud vocals or instruments. Weighing only 1 gram, this lavalier offers high wearing comfort; after a short time you hardly notice you are wearing it.
This version features a lockable 3.5mm mini-jack connector, suitable for e.g. Sennheiser Evolution wireless transmitters and compatible systems. The microphone comes with multiple accessories, including several frequency caps to adjust the sound for visible or hidden mounting in clothing or costumes.
