The Shure Beta 87A is a condenser microphone designed specifically for live vocals. For singers looking for more nuance and clarity than the standard microphones often found in venues, this is an excellent choice. Thanks to its supercardioid directional pattern, the Beta 87A is particularly good at suppressing feedback, even on louder stages. You benefit from crisp, clear sound with plenty of detail, just what you need for a convincing performance. And as you would expect from Shure, this microphone is built for serious work on stage - rugged and reliable, night after night.

Want to sound the way you should on stage? Then the Shure Beta 87A is a logical step forward.

Outstanding sound quality both in the studio and on stage
The Shure Beta 87A combines studio quality with the reliability you need live. This condenser microphone with supercardioid directional characteristic effortlessly captures the smallest details and nuances of a singing voice, even in the most demanding live conditions. The Beta 87A is designed for vocalists who demand clarity and precision. Thanks to its refined design and precise tuning, this microphone ensures clear articulation, controlled playback and faithful reproduction of the voice. Not for nothing is the Beta 87A used worldwide in professional vocal performances of the highest level.

Designed for noisy venues
Where many condenser microphones struggle in harsh environments due to their sensitivity to ambient noise, the Shure Beta 87A actually excels. Thanks to its supercardioid directional pattern, this microphone focuses exclusively on the direct sound source, greatly reducing feedback. Even right in front of a set of loud monitor cabinets, the Beta 87A remains surprisingly controllable. The microphone offers consistent response across the entire frequency range, with more gain before feedback occurs. In addition, the proximity effect is minimized, ensuring a balanced sound regardless of distance from the microphone. Perfect for use on a crowded and loud stage.

Built for the stage
Like other microphones from Shure, the Beta 87A is designed to take a beating. Shure is known worldwide for microphones that are virtually indestructible. Each model is subjected to rigorous durability tests - from drops to extreme heat and humidity. Not for nothing is Shure one of the most popular brands for live use. These microphones do their job over and over again, night after night, no matter how harsh the conditions.

Shure Beta 87A features:

  • robust and good-sounding handheld condenser microphone
  • tuned for live vocals
  • excellent noise and feedback suppression
  • built like a tank
  • low handling noise
  • full frequency range (50Hz-20kHz)
  • operates on +48V phantom power
  • comes in a case
  • weight: 207 gr.

What is the difference between the Shure Beta 87A and 87C?
The difference between the Shure Beta 87A and the 87C is in the recording pattern. The Beta 87A has a supercardioid directional characteristic, while the 87C uses a cardioid pattern. As a result, the Beta 87A offers better rejection of ambient noise and a lower chance of feedback, which is ideal for high stage volume situations. However, this microphone does require a bit more experience, as you have to sing straight into the mic for best results. The Beta 87C is a bit more forgiving in use: thanks to its cardioid pattern, it also picks up sound from the side. This makes it less strictly necessary to sing precisely into the microphone, which is nice for singers who are less experienced. Keep in mind, however, that the 87C is slightly more sensitive to feedback than the 87A.
