Strymon Lex V2 Rotary

Strymon Lex Rotary V2 is the new version of the pedal with the classic ripping sound of rotary speaker system. Here, every nuance and detail has been studied and recreated. In doing so, as we have come to expect from Strymon, the designers did not take any chances. The physics and mechanics of these rotary systems were also analyzed and put into this compact pedal.

New on this pedal are dedicated knobs for both the output volume and the volume level of the raw signal to seamlessly blend wet/dry signals. In addition, there are switches for Speed Change Ramp-Time (slow/med/fast) as well as Front/Rear cabinet direction voicing on it. The speed knob now adjusts the speed for both Slow and Fast modes, depending on which mode is active when the knob is adjusted.

You get many parameters to adjust, giving you very extensive control over the tonality and mechanics of the effect. Think rotor speed, horn level, acceleration time, microphone distance, tube drive, saturation and, of course, volume level.

With this Lex, you are able to produce dramatic, swirling sounds as well as soft, quiet and soothing waves. All without a giant cabinet, microphone configuration and expensive motor maintenance. Furthermore, this pedal obviously has a slow/medium/fast knob that allows you to influence the speed of the rotor, just as you can with a physical speaker system.

This new version has full MIDI control, including MIDI clock synchronization and access to 300 presets via MIDI. It includes a USB-C connection for MIDI-over-USB and firmware updates, allowing bidirectional MIDI communication with a single cable using Strymon's Conduit interface. There is also free editor/librarian support via USB connectivity. The editor/librarian software will be launched in August 2022.

The pedal has full stereo inputs and a MONO/STEREO input switch on the back of the unit; a big improvement and much more convenient than having to take the pedal apart to change the internal physical sweater position as on the original. There are also better preamps on it and the processor has also received an upgrade. The pedal is further True Bypass, but you can also opt for Buffered Bypass function.
