Read moreThe Volante simulates the physicality, sound and all the charm of vintage drum echoes (Binson Echorec) and tape echoes (e.g. the Roland Space Echo). You'll find both the more and less familiar or obvious parameters on this pedal, but basically you can set the type of echo - drum, tape or studio (reel-to-reel hi fidelity) - and virtually enable up to four playback heads / repeat moments and adjust them in detail full with the four playback and feedback switches in the centre of the pedal.
From there on you can really go in depth with shaping your echo sound! In addition to the usual parameters such as repeat, time and level, you can also set:
- Rec Level; the level of gain of the signal that goes into the playback heads.
- Mechanics; simulation of modulation in analog tape echoes caused by mechanical / physical irregulations (so-called "wow & flutter").
- Low cut; low cut filter.
- Wear; simulation of degradation of sound quality in analog tape echoes caused by wear of the tape.
- Spacing; simulation of the variable distance between the playback heads.
- Spring; add vintage-style spring reverb.
And those are just the obvious tunable functions that are directly visible on the control panel. The Volante also features tap tempo, a "favorite" preset and Sound-on-Sound (SOS) function that allows you to create and edit short loops. The pedal can also be used in full stereo (stereo in and out) and you can pan the repeats of the virtual playback heads left or right.
The signal path of the Volante is completely analog and the digital effect circuit is powered by the most advanced and powerful dsp's. This gives the Volante all the character and charm of a vintage, analog tape echo, without the practical inconveniences.
