Instead of manually adjusting settings each time, simply select the application you need - such as "podcast" - and the appropriate settings will load automatically. But it's not just podcasts: there are preconfigured modes available for multi-channel recording, interviews, ASMR, music production and field recordings, among others. This makes your work faster and clearer, without the hassle of complicated menus or settings. The app-like controls let you start recording right away, so you can focus on what really matters: capturing crisp, clear audio.

When it comes to mobile recording, it's all about connectivity - and that's where the Tascam Portacapture X8 excels. In addition to its two built-in microphones, it features four lockable XLR/TRS combo inputs, equipped with high-quality HDDA microphone preamps developed by Tascam itself. There is also a dedicated camera audio input, and you can control wirelessly via the Tascam Portacapture Control app in combination with the AK-BT1 Bluetooth adapter (sold separately). There is plenty of flexibility digitally as well: use the Portacapture X8 as a USB audio interface to record directly into your DAW. These versatile connection options allow you to record up to eight tracks simultaneously (six individual tracks plus a stereo mix). Built-in DSP for instantly finished recordings
Tascam understands how crucial good sound is. That's why the Portacapture X8 is equipped with powerful DSP features that you can put to use right as you record. For example, the automatic gain control helps you maintain the right recording volume without clipping - ideal for changing sound levels. The compressor and limiter keep dynamics under control, while the low-cut filter filters out unwanted low frequencies such as contact noise or wind noise. You also have a noise gate to reduce background noise and a normalize function to make the volume of your recordings consistent. Want to give your recordings some extra character? Then simply add a touch of reverb via the built-in reverb. Everything is on board for a professional sound, without post-processing.
