The Yamaha YDP series has been one of the most popular entry-level pianos on the market for years, and for good reason. Since the 2000s, the YDP has offered an exceptionally rich piano sound and realistic touch for its price point; in addition, the model is very compact, making it easy to incorporate into a living room or even a bedroom.

The YDP-166 builds on this trend with an even more powerful speaker system and more realistic samples. The YDP-166 uses Yamaha’s CFX Grand Piano samples and offers the option to select 9 other voices, including electric pianos, strings, organs, and harpsichords. 

The YDP-166 has also received an upgrade to its keyboard. Instead of the GHS keyboard, the Grand Touch E keyboard was developed specifically for this series. The Grand Touch E keyboard offers a more realistic feel thanks to its more accurate sensors. This means that the nuances we incorporate into our playing are translated even more effectively into the sound we hear. 

And no modern instrument is complete these days without Bluetooth audio, which has now been incorporated into the YDP series as well. It’s perfect—and sometimes even essential—for both beginners and experienced musicians to play along with their favorite music and to effectively follow online lessons.
