The Electro-Voice EKX-18SP is an active PA subwoofer featuring a 45.7 cm EVS-18C woofer and a built-in 1,300-watt Class D amplifier. With a maximum sound pressure level of 134 dB, this subwoofer delivers powerful low-frequency reproduction for bands, DJs, stages, clubs, and permanent sound systems. The frequency response extends down to 35 Hz, ensuring that even low electronic basslines and the impact of a kick drum come through clearly. 

The EKX-18SP combines high output with a wooden enclosure suitable for portable use. Thanks to the integrated QuickSmartDSP, you can set up the system without needing external speaker processors.

QuickSmartDSP with intuitive LCD screen
You can access the QuickSmartDSP via the LCD screen and the central rotary knob. Choose from three application-specific presets: Music, Live, and Club. In addition, there are five memory slots available where you can save your own settings and recall them later. The DSP offers adjustable low-pass filters at 80, 100, 120, and 150 Hz. This allows you to tune the subwoofer to match various active top speakers. The display shows, among other things, the input level, the limiter status, and the set volume. This makes it easier to establish a proper gain structure and prevent clipping.

Cardioid Control for Less Bass on Stage
When using multiple EKX-18SP subwoofers, you can utilize Cardioid Control Technology. This directs the low-frequency response toward the audience and can reduce the level at the rear of the setup by up to 35 dB. This results in less low-frequency energy on stage, so musicians and technicians are less bothered by rumbling bass. This configuration also helps distribute sound more directionally throughout the venue.

Intelligent Temperature Management 
The built-in 1,300-watt Class-D amplifier features intelligent temperature management. A variable-speed fan is controlled by multiple internal sensors. As a result, the amplifier module is cooled only when necessary, and the subwoofer continues to function reliably during longer performances and at high sound levels.

Connectors for expanding your PA system
The rear panel features two combined XLR/6.35mm inputs for connecting a mixing console or other audio source. Two XLR link outputs pass the incoming signal on to additional subwoofers or active top speakers. The output signal is not affected by the EKX-18SP’s volume and DSP settings. The large bass-reflex ports minimize distortion and enhance low-frequency reproduction. On top is an M20 threaded mount for attaching a center pole and a top speaker.

Wooden cabinet with EVCoat finish
The cabinet is made of 15 mm plywood and features internal bracing. The black EVCoat finish protects the wood during transport and daily use. On the front, the woofer is protected by a powder-coated steel grille with two metal reinforcement bars. Metal handles make it easier to move. The cabinet measures 52 x 60.6 x 61.2 cm and has a net weight of 32.8 kg.
