The EVE Audio SC3070 is an active 3-way studio monitor designed for professional recording, mixing, and mastering studios. The monitor combines a separate woofer, midrange driver, and Air Motion Transformer with three Class-D amplifiers. This ensures that each part of the frequency range is reproduced by its own driver and amplifier. The result is controlled bass response, an open midrange, and detailed highs.

Thanks to its compact horizontal design, the SC3070 fits into studios where a full-fledged 3-way monitor system is desired, but there is no room for large main monitors. With a frequency range of 35 Hz to 25 kHz, the SC3070 can reproduce a large portion of the audible spectrum without immediately requiring a subwoofer. The monitor is suitable for near-field and mid-field monitoring.

Full-Fledged 3-Way Monitor System
In a 2-way monitor, the woofer and tweeter must share the midrange. The SC3070 uses a separate 10 cm midrange driver for this purpose. As a result, vocals, guitars, keyboards, and other instruments in the midrange are reproduced separately from the low frequencies. This makes it easier to assess balance, timbre, compression, and equalization during mixing. The crossover frequencies are 320 Hz and 2.8 kHz. The woofer handles the low frequencies, the midrange driver handles the midrange, and the RS3.1 Air Motion Transformer handles the high frequencies. The bass reflex port is located on the rear panel. The rectangular opening has rounded edges to minimize air noise and compression at higher volumes. The cabinet measures 34 x 25 x 31 cm and weighs 9.8 kg.

SilverCone woofer and midrange driver The SC3070 features a 16.5 cm SilverCone woofer and a 10 cm SilverCone midrange driver. The cones consist of a honeycomb structure with a fiberglass coating. This design combines low weight with sufficient rigidity to prevent unwanted distortion. The drivers utilize a magnetic system with a copper cap. This reduces distortion and supports a controlled response, even at higher volume levels. The woofer is powered by a 185-watt amplifier. A separate 100-watt amplifier is provided for the midrange driver.

RS3.1 Air Motion Transformer
For the high frequencies, EVE Audio uses the RS3.1 Air Motion Transformer. Instead of a conventional dome tweeter, this driver uses a lightweight, pleated diaphragm design. Air is compressed between the folds and forced outward. This allows the tweeter to respond quickly to transients and reproduce fine details in recordings. The RS3.1 is driven by its own 50-watt Class-D amplifier. The combination of the Air Motion Transformer and the separate midrange driver ensures clear reproduction of the midrange and high frequencies, without the highs sounding harsh during extended listening sessions.

335-watt tri-amp amplification
Each driver has its own Class-D amplifier. The total amplification is 335 watts per monitor, distributed as 185 watts for the woofer, 100 watts for the midrange driver, and 50 watts for the Air Motion Transformer. The built-in limiter protects the drivers and amplifiers from overload. With a maximum sound pressure level of 120 dB per pair, the SC3070 offers sufficient headroom for mixing, producing, and mastering at various listening volumes.

DSP with Burr-Brown Converter
The analog input signal is converted by a Burr-Brown A/D converter with a resolution of 24-bit and a sample rate of 192 kHz. The internal DSP then processes the signal for crossovers, protection, and room correction settings. The DSP filters operate without noticeable latency, allowing the SC3070 to remain usable during recording, playback, production, and mixing. When powered on, the volume builds up gradually. This Safe Fade-In feature helps prevent sudden volume spikes when the source signal is too loud.

SMART knob for front-panel control
The SMART knob with an LED ring is locatedon the front panel. This allows you to control the volume and the built-in filters without having to reach behind the monitor. The LED ring displays the set value and can be adjusted for brightness for use in dark studios or during video recordings. The High-Shelf, Mid-EQ, Desk, and Low-Shelf filters allow you to tailor the response to the room and the monitor’s placement. For example, you can reduce the bass when the SC3070 is placed close to a wall. The Desk filter corrects frequencies that are amplified by reflections from a desk or mixing console. The Mid-EQ operates around 1 kHz and offers a range from -3 dB to +3 dB. The High-Shelf operates above 3 kHz and the Low-Shelf below 300 Hz. The filters are adjustable in 0.5 dB steps.

Lock Settings
DIP switches on the rear panel allow you to lock the volume and filter settings. This prevents settings from being changed during daily use. The selected settings are retained even when the monitor is turned off or disconnected from the power supply.

Balanced and Unbalanced Inputs
The SC3070 features a balanced XLR input for connection to an audio interface, monitor controller, or mixing console. It also features an unbalanced RCA input. Both inputs have an impedance of 10 kOhm. 

Left and Right Versions
The EVE Audio SC3070 has an asymmetrical layout and is therefore available inleft andright versions. In a standard stereo setup, the tweeters are positioned on the inner sides. The woofer of the left monitor is then located on the left side, and the woofer of the right monitor on the right side. This placement reduces the influence of reflective surfaces between the tweeters and supports a focused stereo image. In narrow spaces, the tweeters can be placed on the outer sides to widen the stereo image, although reflections from the side walls may then have a greater impact.
