Noise gate, the concept sounds too good to be true; a stomp box that filters out all your noise and crackles. Most of the time the practice is also too good to be true, to be honest. A lot of gates do filter out noise, but they don't preserve your tone and sustain, which makes them pretty much useless...

Unless you simply choose a very well engineered noise gate, like this G8 from Revv! This pedal is transparent, respects sustain and does exactly what you want from a noise gate; filtering out unwanted noise. The G8 can be dailed-in very flexible and precisely with a separate control for release time (which you more or less fine-tune with the hold time) and a threshold setting. This makes the gate very flexible for both the rocker who wants to silence a noisy amp as for the typical, super stacato, mechanical metal riffs.
With both a regular input and output and a send & return connection, this gate is easy to use in front of the amp, an amp effects loop and to specifically gate noisy pedals.
The G8 is made by Revv in Canada and can be powered from 9vDC to 12vDC.
