Sonor DP 672

With the German-built 600-series and Giant Step pedals, Sonor is playing in the absolute Champions League. And whether this is the sexiest designed pedal on the market is up for debate, but take note; within the category of professional, hi-end bass drum pedals, it's not going to get much better. This DP672 pedal is built like a tank with an great eye for detail and clever features. This pedal "will get the job done" day in and day out and probably for the rest of your drumming career. German solidity to the max.

Fully in line with the rest of the 600-series hardware, this DP672 double pedal is absolutely heavy duty, but not overly heavy. The solid bottom plates and one-piece cast masts and footplates are super stable and rigid. The hinge in the footplate and the drive shafts are bearing-mounted and so it runs very smoothly and dead quiet. The hefty double chain runs over a cam with a round, balanced action. Obviously, the feel of a pedal will always be a personal preference with a bass drum pedal and with this pedal you'll get a balanced forward / backward motion. Similar to a Tama Rolling Glide or DW Turbo Drive, for example.

Sonor has clearly gone to great lengths to provide the highest possible level of mechanical quality. From the pictures you might not see it right away, but take a look at the drive shaft between the two pedals; the knee joints are wrapped in dust covers (like the drive shaft of a car) and  protected from dust and possible damage, the length can be adjusted telescopically on both sides and all fixings or locks are secured with two bolts.

A unique Sonor feature of this (and the other) hi-end bass drum pedal is the Smart Connect System. With this clever and very convenient attachment method, you mount the pedal to the bass drum by means of a docking station; a custom clamp that grabs onto the hoop, to which you attach the pedal with a pull shaft. This operation is smooth and simple with the lever on the bottom plate.
In addition, the DP672 pedal features an adjustable toe-stop for both footplates, double-sided beaters and velcro under the bottom plate so the pedal on a drum rug won't go anywhere. A convenient carrying case is included.
