Pioneer XDJ-AN

The AlphaTheta XDJ-AN is a 2-channel all-in-one DJ system that makes the transition from a DJ controller to a standalone, club-oriented workflow much smoother. You can DJ without a laptop, using USB storage, streaming services, or your rekordbox library in the cloud. The control panel is based on the workflow of the professional CDJ series and DJM mixers, allowing you to work at home with a layout that matches the equipment you’ll find in clubs and DJ booths.

From DJing at home to the DJ booth
Many DJs start out with a controller and a laptop. As a result, the transition to separate media players and a DJ mixer can take some getting used to. The XDJ-AN was developed as an intermediate step: a complete standalone DJ system with two decks and a 2-channel mixer, built around club-oriented controls. You’ll learn to work with a central mixer, separate deck sections, Hot Cues, jog wheels, and performance features without relying on a computer. The layout is inspired by the AlphaTheta CDJ-3000X and the professional DJM series. For beginner DJs, this offers a clear way to master the basics. If you’re already spinning with a DJ controller, the XDJ-AN is a logical step toward a standalone DJ setup!

Stream music directly with StreamingDirectPlay
With StreamingDirectPlay, you can access supported music streaming services right from the XDJ-AN. Apple Music, Beatport Streaming, and TIDAL are supported directly. You can load tracks from a streaming service and mix them with music from other sources, such as a USB storage device. Spotify support is planned for a future update. A valid subscription is required for each streaming service, and availability may vary by country or region. This also changes the way you can discover new music in a set. You don’t have to buy, download, and manage every track locally before you can try it out. Find a track, load it into a deck, and use it in your DJ set.

Info Search helps you find your next track
The Info Search feature makes finding the right music part of your workflow. Tap the artist or album of the track you’re playing, and the XDJ-AN helps you find related music. This lets you continue searching based on the music currently in focus, whether you’re preparing or performing. Info Search uses track information to help you search by details such as artist and album. Especially with large streaming catalogs, this provides a quick way to discover new tracks starting from a single song.

Your rekordbox library directly from the cloud
The XDJ-AN supports rekordbox CloudDirectPlay. This gives you access from your DJ system to a rekordbox library stored in the cloud via Dropbox or Google Drive. Tracks and playlists you’ve prepared on your computer can therefore be available directly on the XDJ-AN. With Cloud Library Sync, changes are synchronized across devices. If you add Hot Cues on the XDJ-AN or edit a playlist, these changes can be updated in your cloud library. When you open the library on your computer later, you’ll continue working with the updated information. CloudDirectPlay and the associated cloud features require an appropriate rekordbox subscription plan.

Editing Playlists on the DJ System
You don’t have to keep going back to your computer to create and edit playlists. On the XDJ-AN, you can create new playlists and edit existing ones. Add tracks, select multiple tracks, delete tracks, reorder them, and rename playlists: much of your library management is done directly via the touchscreen. Playlist Bank also integrates with this workflow. Playlists can be saved to the cloud, so that after turning off the XDJ-AN, you can later continue working with the playlists you were using earlier.

7-inch touchscreen for browsing and performing
At the center of the AlphaTheta XDJ-AN is a 7-inch WSVGA touchscreen with a resolution of 1024 × 600 pixels. The screen brings together music selection, waveforms, deck information, and settings. The Browse view displays, among other things, your track list, artwork, preview waveform, BPM, and key. In the Waveform view, you can see the overall waveform, cues, loops, BPM, key, and tempo. At the same time, you have access to performance features such as Beat Jump, Sound Color FX, and Sync. You can adjust deck and mixer settings via separate screens. Logging in to online music sources is done via a QR code on the screen. Scan the code to access your cloud library or supported streaming services. From the Source screen, you can then choose between USB, cloud, and streaming.

USB-C and OneLibrary for your own music library
Do you prefer to work with your own music collection on USB? That workflow remains central as well. The XDJ-AN features a USB-C port for storage media and supports USB storage devices exported from rekordbox or other compatible DJ software in the OneLibrary format. The supported file systems for USB storage are FAT16, FAT32, exFAT, and HFS+. The XDJ-AN uses OneLibrary; if you’re still using the older Device Library format, you’ll need to convert the library using a recent version of rekordbox for Mac or Windows.

DJing with rekordbox, Serato, and djay
In addition to standalone use, the XDJ-AN can be connected to a computer or mobile device. rekordbox for Mac and Windows works via Hardware Unlock, so no separate rekordbox license is required for the supported Hardware Unlock features. rekordbox for iOS can also be used via USB. The XDJ-AN is also compatible with Serato DJ Lite, Serato DJ Pro, djay Pro for Mac and Windows, and djay for iOS. A paid license or subscription is required for Serato DJ Pro, djay Pro, and djay for iOS.

DJing from Your Smartphone
The XDJ-AN supports DJ apps such as rekordbox for iOS and djay for iOS. This allows you to connect a mobile device via USB-C and perform using a mobile DJ workflow. Tracks stored in advance on the mobile device can also be used in locations where Wi-Fi is not available. For recording and live streaming, the XDJ-AN supports the DJM-REC app. Connect a compatible iOS device, and you can record and edit DJ sets, then share them via supported platforms or livestream them. Tracks from streaming services cannot be recorded due to their associated usage rights.

Wireless monitoring with built-in SonicLink transmitter
The XDJ-AN features a built-in SonicLink transmitter. SonicLink is AlphaTheta’s wireless audio technology for low-latency monitoring. For example, pair the XDJ-AN with compatible AlphaTheta HDJ-F10 headphones, and you can preview tracks wirelessly without connecting a separate SonicLink transmitter. Latency can be reduced to as low as 9 milliseconds. This is crucial during beatmatching and when preparing a transition, where timing must remain immediately perceptible. SonicLink’s range is approximately 5 meters in open spaces.

Bluetooth Audio In and Out
Bluetooth isn’t just available as an input. The XDJ-AN supports both Bluetooth input and output. You can send audio from a Bluetooth device to the DJ system or send the master output to a compatible Bluetooth audio device. Bluetooth input and output cannot be used simultaneously. For Bluetooth Classic, the SBC and AAC codecs are supported. The specified Bluetooth range is approximately 20 meters in open conditions. Please note that Bluetooth may cause latency. For wireless headphone monitoring while mixing, SonicLink is therefore the recommended connection.

Two decks with 13.2 cm jog wheels and eight Hot Cues
Thetwo deck sections feature jogwheels with a diameter of 13.2 cm. Above each deck are eight direct Hot Cue buttons, keeping saved cue points within easy reach. The layout keeps the most important deck functions physically on the control panel and uses the touchscreen for browsing, information, and settings. The mixer has two channels, each with a 3-band EQ and a Sound Color FX control. The six built-in Sound Color FX are Space, Dub Echo, Sweep, Noise, Crush, and Filter. In addition, there are three Beat FX: Reverb, Echo, and Flanger.

Professional Master Outputs and Microphone Input For connection to a PA system or active speakers, the XDJ-AN features a balanced XLR master output. An RCA master output is available for other audio equipment and monitor setups. The headphone jack is a 3.5 mm stereo mini-jack. A balanced 6.35 mm TRS jack input is provided for a microphone. You can adjust the microphone level from the control panel. This makes the XDJ-AN suitable for private parties, events, and other situations where you, as a DJ, use a microphone. The connections on the back are clearly grouped in the product overview around USB-C, XLR, RCA, and the microphone input.

Clear sound for home use and on a sound system
AlphaTheta designed the XDJ-AN’s audio section to deliver a clear output signal at various volume levels. The specified frequency range is 20 Hz to 20 kHz for USB and microphone. The signal-to-noise ratio via USB is 112 dB, and the total harmonic distortion via USB is 0.003%.

Compact 5.2 kg all-in-one DJ system
With dimensions of 63.8 × 35.9 × 9.0 cm and a weight of 5.2 kg, the AlphaTheta XDJ-AN remains a compact DJ system. You get two decks, a 2-channel mixer, a 7-inch touchscreen, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and SonicLink all in one unit. The XDJ-AN is therefore aimed at DJs who want to practice at home using a club-oriented workflow, but also want to take the same system with them to a gig or private party.
