Every studio needs at least one pair of high-quality large-diaphragm condenser microphones, and the Warm Audio WA-87jr is inspired by one of the most legendary models ever. This microphone delivers top performance on virtually any source. Vocals are captured with clarity and detail, drums are given extra impact and body, and as a roommic alongside a dynamic or ribbon mic on a guitar cabinet, it provides just the right complement. Acoustic instruments such as strings, winds, woodwinds and percussion also sound convincing with the WA-87jr. Even on a kick drum it can excel, with the -10 dB pad being a handy feature. The built-in highpass filter at 70 Hz helps remove unwanted low-frequency noise and clutter. With three adjustable directional characteristics, this microphone further extends its wide applicability.

The WA-87jr is equipped with three switchable directional characteristics - cardioid, omni and figure-8 - giving you tremendous freedom in applying different recording techniques. The figure-8 mode is ideal for face-to-face recordings, such as two background singers on one microphone. In addition, this pattern offers strong lateral rejection, which also makes it suitable for recording from backline amps and speaker cabinets. With two WA-87jr's, you can employ a variety of stereo techniques, including spaced pair (A/B), XY (including Blumlein), ORTF and mid-side (M-S). With three WA-87jr's in omni mode, you can even convincingly capture an entire symphony orchestra as well as the acoustics of the venue.
