Eve Audio SC3012

The SC3012 is the largest of EVE Audio's Main monitors and is a true powerhouse of top end audio. With a bizarre low-end extension of 25Hz, top-end to 21kHz and a 130dB SPL, this is the perfect monitor for larger music and/or film and television post-production studios. Should you wish to use the SC3010 in-wall simply select the "inwall" filter on the DSP and insert the included foams to block the bass port.

The SC3012 systems have a very powerful amplifier array, with one amplifier per driver. All drivers, especially our proprietary AMT RS6 tweeter, are designed to deliver high sound pressure levels, extremely low distortion and optimized directivity. Together with the ultra-rigid plywood faceplate and special internal construction to reduce resonances, they offer smooth directivity, highly defined mids, pristine high frequencies and a powerful and tight low.

The SC3012 is a high-resolution monitor that stands at the intersection of performance and precision. This monitor fits perfectly in any serious recording or mastering studio.

An advanced, double-coated 12-inch metal cone woofer with low resonance covers a frequency range down to low 25 Hz (-3 dB). The long excursion driver effortlessly reproduces the lowest frequencies with an exceptionally low harmonic distortion level.

The SC3012 also features a specially developed 5-inch midrange unit. The Rohacel™ sandwich cone with fiberglass coating is responsible for clear and detailed reproduction of midrange frequencies. Both the 12-inch SilverCone woofer and the 5-inch SilverCone midrange are equipped with our copper-capped magnet system, which has very low distortion.

Exclusive to the SC3012 and the smaller SC3010, the RS6 Air Motion Transformer (AMT) completes the system. The RS6 is designed to allow the SC3010/SC3012 to combine faithful high-frequency reproduction with a clear and detailed high midrange. This new AMT is 2.5 times larger than the RS1, RS2 and RS3 Air Motion Transformers and is an important part of the system because it helps to couple the mid and high frequencies with great precision. The crossover frequency drops to 1800 Hz, providing uniform directivity and a very well-defined mid- and high-frequency range.

Full performance without compromise

Each driver is driven by its own dedicated PWM amplifier. The tweeter and midrange are each supported by a 250 W amplifier, while the woofer is amplified by an 800 W PWM module via a bridge. All drivers are protected by a limiter detection circuit. With a maximum output level of 118 dB (SPL @ 1 m), you can easily accurately judge your mixes regardless of the intended output level.

Simply put, the SC3012 is the perfect combination of ruggedness and accuracy, where the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. The pinnacle of EVE Audio engineering, the SC3012 is our flagship model, and for good reason.

As with all other EVE Audio monitors, there are both balanced XLR inputs and unbalanced RCA inputs for added convenience.

Understanding the Air Motion Transformer

The Air Motion Transformer (AMT) is a unique driver technology that sets it apart from other audio drivers. It uses a lightweight, hand-folded diaphragm that is thinly coated with aluminum. The flow of the music signal passes through these conductive wires.

The diaphragm is placed in a powerful magnetic field that causes the folds to move as a result of the Lorentz force. Due to the opposite direction of the current, the walls of each individual fold work against each other. The air between the folds is forced in and out at a ratio of 1:4, compared to the 1:1 ratio of an ordinary dome tweeter.

This results in higher resolution and dynamics in the tweeter section, along with a very low level of distortion, enabling superior sound quality with enhanced detail and clarity.

Smart Knob

All EVE Audio monitors feature high-resolution DSP electronics. A high-quality analog-to-digital converter from BurrBrown (24bit/192kHz) converts the analog input signal delivered via RCA or XLR. The DSP provides latency-free filtering and protects the tweeter and woofers from overload over the entire frequency range. When the monitor is turned on, the volume increases slowly leaving enough time to lower the source volume if the input signal is too loud.

Adjustments to the acoustic environment can be made via the front rotary/push button, the SMART button with rotating LED ring. This knob can be used to equalize the volume of the system and adjust filters for room variables (low shelf, mid eq and high shelf filters). All settings are displayed on the LED ring, giving you instant information about the selected values. The brightness of the LED ring can be adjusted for dark studios or video applications.

High-quality Class D amplifiers complete the system and provide enough power to meet the demands of modern music production. Selected volume and/or filter settings can be independently locked with DIP switches on the back of the amplifier to prevent unauthorized or unintended adjustments.
