Yamaha PSR-SX620

The Yamaha PSR-SX620 is the successor to the PSR-SX600 and is the new entry-level model in the PSR-SX series. Yamaha has updated the instrument in several ways, adding more sounds and Styles, a new control panel, additional real-time control options, and an upgraded speaker system. As a result, the PSR-SX620 is aimed at keyboard players who play at home, create music with automatic accompaniment, or are looking for an instrument for performances.

With over 1,000 Voices and 450 Styles, you have a vast collection of sounds and accompaniments at your fingertips. Super Articulation Voices add an extra layer of realism, while features such as Multi Pads, Chord Looper, Playlist, and Registration Memory help you build arrangements and quickly recall settings while playing.

Over 1,000 Voices and 450 Styles
The Yamaha PSR-SX620 features over 1,000 Voices and 450 Styles for a wide range of music genres. This allows you to work with a wide range of instrument sounds and automatic accompaniments from a single instrument. The new Super Articulation Voices, also known as S.Art! Voices, reproduce the characteristic nuances and articulations of real instruments. Not only the tone itself, but also the typical ways in which an instrument is played become part of the sound. This gives melody lines and parts more expression and makes it easier to deliver a natural performance.

Control Panel Yamaha has alsoupdated the design and layout of the control panel for the PSR-SX620. Frequently used functions are within easy reach, so you spend less time navigating through menus while playing. The redesigned cabinet also features a more modern look. Changes to the construction also contribute to improved sound projection and clearer sound reproduction from the built-in speaker system.

Live Control buttons and joystick controller
During a performance, you can adjust sounds directly using two freely assignable Live Control buttons. These allow you to control parameters such as brightness, timbre, and effects in real time. In addition, the PSR-SX620 features a joystick controller for pitch and modulation. This allows you to adjust pitch, modulation, and expression while playing without interrupting your performance. The combination of the joystick and Live Control knobs provides direct access to functions that you would otherwise have to set via the menu.

Chord Looper for chord progressions
With Chord Looper, you can record chord progressions and then have them repeat automatically. New buttons on the control panel provide direct access to recording and playing back chord sequences. Once a chord progression is playing, you have both hands free to play a melody, take a solo, or adjust sounds and effects. This makes Chord Looper ideal for both playing and working out arrangements.

Multi Pads for Phrases and Loops
With the Multi Pads, you can trigger rhythmic phrases, melodic patterns, and loops while playing. This allows you to enhance a Style with additional musical elements or quickly add another layer to the arrangement during a performance. The controls are designed for immediate access while playing, so the Multi Pads can become part of your performance without having to change settings first.

New Speaker System with BassPort
The internal speaker system of the Yamaha PSR-SX620 has been redesigned. Yamaha uses a new BassPort system with an enlarged internal sound chamber. This gives low frequencies more depth and resonance. A forward-facing bass reflex design enhances the reproduction of low frequencies. The cabinet construction has also been modified to achieve a cleaner and more controlled sound. As a result, the built-in speaker system is suitable for use at home and when playing at venues where you don’t need a separate sound system.

Improved Audio Output for PA Systems
If you use the PSR-SX620 with external speakers or aPA system, you’ll benefit from an upgraded audio output. Yamaha has optimized the audio output to send a clearer and more powerful signal to connected audio equipment. As a result, the PSR-SX620 is designed not only for use with its own speakers but also for situations where the instrument is part of a larger sound system.

Bluetooth Audio
WithBluetooth audio, you can wirelessly stream music from a compatible device to the Yamaha PSR-SX620. For example, you can play a song from your smartphone or tablet through the keyboard and play along with it right away. This is useful for practicing, learning songs, or playing along with existing tracks without needing a separate audio cable.

Built-in Audio Recorder
You can record an entire playing session with the built-in audio recorder. This allows you to listen back to your own playing or record a performance without needing external recording equipment.

Playlist and Registration Memory
The Playlist feature lets you organize songs and their associated settings. Registration Memory banks can be grouped into your own Playlists, so you can quickly recall the desired Voices, Styles, and other settings for each song. This is especially handy when you’re playing multiple songs in a row and using different settings for each one. Instead of resetting each function, you can recall the desired configuration from the Playlist.

Converting MIDI Files to Styles
The PSR-SX620 lets you convert standard MIDI files into playable Styles. During conversion, elements such as intros, endings, main sections, and fill-ins can be created. This allows you to use existing MIDI material as a starting point for automatic accompaniment and then use it within the PSR-SX620’s arranger functions.

Expansion Explorer
With the Expansion Explorer app, you can search for, preview, and manage additional Expansion content. The app is available for iOS, Android, Windows, and Mac. Expansion Explorer provides access to available content and can display personalized recommendations. Through the app, you can discover and install new content to expand the PSR-SX620’s available sounds and accompaniments.

Microphone Jack You can connect a microphone to the Yamaha PSR-SX620. This allows you to combine vocals with your keyboard playing and use the microphone within the same setup as the instrument.

USB-C Port The PSR-SX620 features a USB-C port for USB-to-Host connectivity. This allows the instrument to be connected to a computer, for example, for applications that require a USB connection.
