D'angelico Premier SS Brown Burst

D'Angelico guitars are inspiring in every way. First and foremost, they’re a sight to behold, but beyond all that visual appeal, D’Angelico more than lives up to expectations in terms of sound and quality!
The New York-based guitar maker has a rich history and is renowned for its iconic jazz guitars. However, D’Angelico’s current collection also has plenty to offer in its range of solid-body and semi-hollow-body guitars.

The Premier series is truly an amazing introduction (and that’s an understatement) to these types of guitars, whose versatility never ceases to amaze us. The SS is D’Angelico’s own take on the well-known center-block hollow-body design and our personal favorite; with a 15" wide single-cut body and its refined look, the SS exudes class and style. Its body is more compact than that of a traditional ES335, yet slightly larger than that of an ES339. This places the sound of this guitar right at the sweet spot between hollowbody and solidbody. 

For the 2023 collection, the Premier Hollowbody Series has received a significant upgrade. This collection now comes standard with USA Supro Bolt Bucker pickups—a high-quality, classic PAF-style humbucker. In addition, D’Angelico has further refined the details regarding the finish and material selection. Notable details include the rosewood volume and tone knobs and the very dark, almost ebony-like pau ferro used for the fingerboard. This Brown Sunburst model distinguishes itself from the Iced Tea and Black Flake variants due to its spruce top instead of flamed maple. Furthermore, this new version features a fixed Tune-O-Matic stoptail, a 25" scale, and a 14" radius. In addition, this latest version of the Premier still features Grover Super Rotomatic tuners. All in all, the difference between this model and the more expensive Deluxe or Excel models is now minimal!
