After years of research, Expressive E presents a new step in keyboard synthesis with the Osmosis: a 61-key synthesizer that combines traditional construction and modern technology. The powerful EaganMatrix engine from Haken Audio is at the heart of this synthesizer and delivers a modular digital sound system with more than 500 presets, high-quality effects and extensive editing capabilities. What makes the Osmosis truly unique is its full polyphonic aftertouch. Each key can be played in three directions, giving you total control over dynamics, movement and modulation on a note-by-note basis. This three-dimensional expression is also available through expanded MIDI options for MPE use in your DAW or with your favorite hardware.

Three dimensions of expression
Unlike many other MPE keyboard beds, the Osmosis retains the feel of a classic MIDI keyboard. MPE (MIDI Polyphonic Expression) gives each note its own channel, allowing pitch bend, modulation and other parameters to be controlled on a note-by-note basis. Each key has additional travel from the rest position, allowing the assigned parameter to be affected even after it has been struck. This also applies to the Y-axis, which gives you another separate modulation source per key that you can set per patch. Aftertouch profiles and response curves are easily saved so that they are ready for future use. The EaganMatrix sounds in the Osmosis are also optimized for this unique way of playing. The Osmosis also works extremely well as an MPE controller, thanks to multichannel MIDI that takes any sound - internal or external - to a new level of expression.

Haken Audio, known for the Continuum Fingerboard, has been a pioneer in multichannel expression for years. The collaboration with Expressive E results in perfect integration of the EaganMatrix engine into the Osmosis' innovative keyboard mechanism. You get over 500 presets, with plenty of room for your own creations. EaganMatrix manages polyphonic aftertouch in a way that suits FM synthesis, physical modeling and other sound forms that take full advantage of the instrument's expressive capabilities.

Full control under your fingers
Despite its vast capabilities, the Osmosis is uncluttered in design. Controls include a series of illuminated knobs, tactile dials and a bright color display. Pitch and modulation tabs are right at your fingertips. From this intuitive interface, you effortlessly edit patches, effects, key sensitivity, velocity curves, expression settings, envelopes and EQ values. You can save all your adjustments for later use. There are two jacks for continuous pedals, which you can assign to sustain or another parameter, for example. This way you add another layer of expression, spread across all 24 voices.

Seamless integration
With MIDI in, out and thru connections, the Osmosis also functions excellently as a controller. Via multichannel MIDI, you get the most out of your favorite software instruments. Two 6.35 mm TS line outputs provide stereo playback, while the 6.35 mm TRS headphone output with its own volume control is conveniently located on the front. The external power supply comes with a lockable connector to prevent failure. If you want to dive even deeper into the synthesis, Haken Audio's EaganMatrix editor (Mac/Windows) provides full access to all layers of sound construction.
