Three Sound Engines for Rich Sounds
Under the hood of the MODX M6 houses a trio of sound generators. AN-X (Advanced Analog Modeling) delivers authentic vintage analog synth sounds - from warm leads to thick basses. FM-X guarantees advanced FM synthesis with 8 operators, ideal for both classic '80s FM tones and splashy modern electronic sounds. Finally, there is AWM2 wave synthesis, Yamaha's high-quality sample engine for true-to-life pianos, strings, horns, drums and more. These three engines can be freely combined in one Performance, allowing you to build hybrid sounds not possible in any other synth. In total, you have a polyphony of up to 268 notes (128 AWM2 + 128 FM-X + 12 AN-X) - more than enough to stack complex layers without note loss.

Motion Control for ultimate expression
Unique strength of the MODX M6 is Yamaha's Motion Control Synthesis Engine. This clever control connects the three sound engines and gives you real-time control over a huge range of parameters. Central to this is the Super Knob - a large illuminated dial that allows you to smoothly morph up to 128 parameters simultaneously. With one move, you change your sound from subtle and atmospheric to powerful and edgy, or slowly evolve a mix during a live jam. In addition, Motion Control offers features such as Motion Sequences (tempo-synchronized automations for filters or effects, for example) and an Envelope Follower that converts audio input to modulation. The result is unparalleled expression: sounds that are constantly moving and reacting to your playing, something unthinkable with normal hardware synths.

Intuitive operation and workflow
A great deal of attention has been paid to ease of use. The MODX M6 features a bright 7-inch touch display that lets you effortlessly navigate through sounds and settings. The improved FSB (semi-weighted) keyboard feels solid and responsive, so you play with confidence. On the front panel, you'll find plenty of hands-on controllers: eight faders with LED indicators, four rotary knobs (assignable), eight Scene knobs to instantly switch between sound variations, plus the familiar pitchbend and modulation wheel. You have direct access to important parameters without getting lost in menus. The MODX M6's fast workflow means that inspiration is instantly transformed into sound - whether you want to program sounds or tweak them live.

Connectivity and studio integration
The Yamaha MODX M6 connects seamlessly to modern production studios and live sets. Via USB, it acts as a full-fledged USB audio/MIDI interface with 10 output channels and 4 input channels (44.1 kHz) for multitrack audio and MIDI 2.0 communication. This means you can record the MODX directly into your DAW without a separate sound card. In addition, you get Cubase AI (download) included to start recording right away. Also unique is support for Yamaha's upcoming Expanded Softsynth Plugin (ESP) - this allows you to use the MODX M6's entire sound engine as a software plug-in into your computer, completely in sync with the hardware.
