Neumann KH 350

The Neumann KH 350 is an active 3-way studio monitor designed for professional studios that require a wide frequency range, high maximum sound pressure level, and controlled sound dispersion. The KH 350 is designed for both near-field and mid-field monitoring and fits between the KH 310 II and KH 420 in the Neumann KH series. Thanks to its deep bass response, vertical 3-way design, and integrated DSP, it is suitable for music production, mixing, mastering, broadcast, post-production, film scoring, and immersive audio.

The KH 350 combines an 8 1/4" woofer with a 3" dome midrange driver and a 1" tweeter. The midrange driver and tweeter work in conjunction with Neumann’s Mathematically Modeled Dispersion waveguide, or MMD for short. This controls the dispersion across the frequency range, ensuring that the stereo image remains stable and that reflections from the room have less of an impact on what you hear at the listening position.

The bass-reflex design gives the KH 350 a frequency response that extends down to 30 Hz at ±3 dB. At ±6 dB, the range extends from 27 Hz to 21 kHz. This allows the KH 350 to be used as a full-range monitor in many applications without immediately requiring a subwoofer.

For both near-field and mid-field
The Neumann KH 350 is designed for a recommended listening distance of 1.2 to 3.0 meters. This makes it suitable for distances where smaller near-field monitors offer less low-frequency response, sound pressure, or control over the sound dispersion. The KH 350 remains usable even at shorter distances. This makes it an attractive option for studios where a compact listening position is combined with the need for greater low-frequency response and dynamic headroom. For larger control rooms, the monitor delivers sufficient output for midfield use. Within stereo, surround, and immersive systems, the KH 350 can be combined with other models from the Neumann KH series. The consistent tuning across the series makes it suitable, among other things, as an LCR monitor in larger Dolby Atmos and multichannel setups.

3-way design with 8 1/4" woofer
The KH 350 uses three separate drivers, ensuring that each part of the frequency spectrum is reproduced by a dedicated driver. An 8 1/4" woofer is used for the bass. The midrange driver has a diameter of 3" and is magnetically shielded. The high frequencies are reproduced by a 1" tweeter with a metal protective grille. The crossover frequencies are set at 700 Hz and 1,700 Hz. The filters operate with a slope of 24 dB per octave. As a result, the individual drivers need only reproduce the frequency range for which they are designed. The 3" midrange driver plays a key role in reproducing vocals, guitars, string instruments, and other midrange details. In combination with the tweeter and MMD waveguide, it creates a controlled transition from midrange to high frequencies.

MMD Waveguide for Controlled Dispersion
A studio monitor is not defined solely by its frequency response directly in front of the speaker. Dispersion off-axis also influences what you hear via reflections from walls, ceilings, floors, and studio furniture. That is why Neumann uses the Mathematically Modeled Dispersion (MMD) waveguide. The shape of this waveguide is engineered to control the radiation from the midrange driver and tweeter and ensure a smooth transition between the two drivers. This helps you accurately assess the placement of instruments, vocals, and effects in a mix. It also minimizes the influence of unwanted reflections. This is particularly important at greater listening distances and in multichannel or immersive spaces, where multiple monitors must work together to form a single, consistent sound field.

Low-frequency response down to 30 Hz
The KH 350 uses a bass-reflex enclosure and achieves a frequency response of 30 Hz to 21 kHz at ±3 dB. The total specified frequency range at ±6 dB is 27 Hz to 21 kHz. Within the passband of 32 Hz to 20 kHz, Neumann specifies a deviation of only ±1.25 dB. Between 100 Hz and 10 kHz, the maximum linearity deviation is ±0.8 dB. The deep bass response makes it possible to evaluate bass, kick drums, synthesizers, and low-frequency effects without significant attenuation down to well below 40 Hz. For applications requiring more low-frequency output, LFE reproduction, or bass management, the KH 350 can be paired with a compatible Neumann KH subwoofer.

High Maximum Sound Pressure Level (
) In addition to its extended low-frequency range, the KH 350 offers sufficient sound pressure headroom for greater listening distances. Neumann specifies a maximum SPL of 122.6 dB at 1 meter in half-space, averaged between 100 Hz and 6 kHz at 3% THD. In full-space, the maximum SPL according to the same measurement method is 116.6 dB. For the low frequencies, the maximum SPL averages 109.7 dB in half-space between 50 and 100 Hz at 3% THD. According to the Dolby D.A.R.D.T. measurement method, the KH 350 achieves 120 dB full-range and 124 dB in a bass-managed system.

Three separate amplifier channels
The KH 350 features three separate amplifier channels for the woofer, midrange driver, and tweeter. At 0.1% THD+N, the system delivers 185 watts, 125 watts, and 125 watts, respectively. This independent control provides each driver with sufficient power headroom and ensures that the DSP can precisely control and protect the three frequency ranges.

Integrated 32-bit DSP
The KH 350 is built around a digitally controlled active system. The audio signal path operates with 32-bit resolution, and the internal processing uses 64-bit double precision. Among other functions, the DSP handles the crossover filters, frequency and phase correction, protection, delay, and integration with Neumann MA 1 Automatic Monitor Alignment. FIR phase correction ensures a linear phase within ±45 degrees between 60 Hz and 18 kHz. This controls not only the frequency response but also the time response of the monitor.

MA 1 Automatic Monitor Alignment
The KH 350 supports Neumann MA 1 Automatic Monitor Alignment. With MA 1, a Neumann monitor system can be adapted to the acoustic characteristics of the listening room and the actual placement of the monitors. MA 1 analyzes the system at the listening position and corrects, among other things, the frequency response and phase behavior. The calculated settings are processed by the KH 350’s DSP. This allows the same monitor to be used in a variety of studios without the acoustic correction having to rely on software within the DAW. This is also important for multichannel and immersive systems, where multiple speakers must be aligned in terms of level, timing, and frequency response. The required MA 1 measurement solution is optional and is not included with the KH 350 as standard.

Analog XLR Input For analog sources, the KH 350 features an electronically balanced XLR input. The input impedance is greater than 12 kOhm. The input sensitivity can be adjusted between 0 and -15 dB. In addition, the nominal output level can be set to 94, 100, 108, or 114 dB SPL at an input level of 0 dBu, measured at 1 meter. The maximum allowable analog input level depends on the selected output level setting. At 94 dB SPL, this is +24 dBu; at 100 dB SPL, +14 dBu; at 108 dB SPL, +9 dBu; and at 114 dB SPL, -1 dBu. The analog dynamic range is 118 dB(A). The specified THD+N is -90 dB.

AES3id Digital Input and Output
In addition to the analog XLR input, the KH 350 features a digital AES3id interface via 75-ohm BNC. Both a digital input and output are provided. The digital converter supports input sample rates from 32 to 200 kHz and operates at a 24-bit resolution. Internally, the KH 350 processes digital audio at 48 kHz. The digital output maintains the same sample rate as the input signal. The input selector allows you to choose between Analog, AES3id Left, AES3id Right, and Mono. This enables two monitors to be fed from a single AES3id stream, with each monitor selecting the desired channel.

Latency is approximately 2.6 ms via the analog input and 4.7 ms via AES3id.

Adjustable Delay
To ensure proper timing between multiple speakers, the KH 350 features an adjustable delay ranging from 0 to 120 ms. This allows you to compensate for differences in physical distance between the monitors and the listening position. The setting can be adjusted in increments of 20.8 µs, which corresponds to approximately 7.1 mm of acoustic distance. This enables highly precise time alignment, which is particularly important in larger stereo, surround, and immersive audio systems.

Acoustic Settings In addition to MA 1, the KH 350 features local settings that allow the monitor to be manually adjusted to its placement in the room. The bass correction offers settings of 0, -1, -2, and -4 dB. The low-mid correction can be set to 0, -1, -2, or -3 dB. For the treble, +1, 0, -1, and -2 dB are available. This allows, among other things, for compensation when the monitor is placed close to a wall, on a large console, or in an acoustic environment that requires additional correction.

Network-
Control The KH 350 can be controlled locally orvia thenetwork. Via Ethernet, the monitor is integrated into a Neumann network for configuration and use with MA 1. The volume can be controlled via MA 1 from 0 dB to fully muted, in 0.1 dB increments. The Neumann logo on the front panel also serves as a status indicator. During normal operation, the logo glows white. When identified within a network, the color changes; red is used for limit, clip, error, and safety warnings, among other things. The brightness of the logo can be adjusted via MA 1.

Driver and Electronics Protection
The internal electronics include various protection mechanisms to keep the drivers and amplifiers within their operating range. Separate soft-clip, peak, and thermal limiters are present. The woofer also features an excursion limiter that restricts excessive cone movement. The electronics and amplifier sections are also thermally monitored. These safeguards activate when the system is subjected to loads outside its intended operating range.

Stereo, surround, and immersive audio
The KH 350 is designed for use in professional stereo and multichannel setups. Thanks to the vertical placement of the drivers, controlled directivity, and high output, it is also suitable for LCR positions and surround channels in immersive spaces. Because the KH 350 follows the same Neumann KH sound philosophy as other models in the series, different KH monitors can be combined within a single installation. For additional low-frequency reproduction, LFE, or bass management, the KH 350 can be combined with network-compatible Neumann subwoofers, including models from the KH 750, KH 805 II, KH 810 II, and KH 870 II series.

Enclosure and Mounting The front panel of the KH 350 is made of a polycarbonate composite. The main enclosure features a wooden construction, and the rear electronics panel is made of aluminum. The front panel is finished in metallic anthracite, RAL 7021. The rear is black, RAL 9005. There are two M8 mounting points on the sides. The available thread depth from the outside of the enclosure is 25 mm. This allows the monitor to be combined with suitable Neumann mounting accessories. With dimensions of 54.5 x 28.0 x 36.3 cm and a weight of 20 kg, the KH 350 is significantly more compact than a traditional main monitor, while still offering low-frequency response down to 30 Hz at ±3 dB.

For professional production
The Neumann KH 350 is designed as a reference monitor for situations where decisions regarding EQ, dynamics, bass balance, stereo or surround placement, and spatial effects must be reliably assessed. For music production and mastering, it offers a wide frequency range and sufficient low-frequency response to monitor a large portion of the audio spectrum without a subwoofer. In film, broadcast, and post-production studios, the higher maximum sound pressure level, digital connectivity, and adjustable delay are key features. In immersive productions, multiple KH 350 monitors can be combined with other models from the KH series. Thanks to DSP, network integration, and the MA 1, even larger systems can be calibrated from the same monitor environment.
