Roland VAD516

The Roland VAD516 is the successor to the Roland VAD507. This new electronic percussion combines the classic look of an acoustic drum kit with the power and flexibility of the latest digital technology. Thanks to real wood shells with tunable mesh heads and advanced digital pads, this kit delivers an extremely realistic playing feel, with a response and dynamics barely distinguishable from acoustic. At the same time, you get the unlimited sound possibilities of Roland's latest V51 sound module - equipped with the same high-quality sound library as the top-of-the-line V71 module, but in a more compact and user-friendly design. Whether you're performing, recording in the studio or practicing in silence, the Roland VAD516 provides everything you need for professional performance at any level.

Acoustic feel with electronic power
The VAD516 features all-wood shells with the look and resonance of a real drum kit. The tunable mesh heads let you adjust to your playing style - tight for more rebound or looser for a softer response. The included PDA100-MS (10"), PDA120-MS (12") and PDA140F-MS (14") toms have an authentic acoustic feel, while the KD-20-MS 20-inch kick drum has an all-wood shell with standard bass drumhead and natural sound projection. Perfectly playable with single or dual pedals. The Midnight Sparkle finish with chrome hardware completes the look - a real eye-catcher on any stage or in any studio.

V51 Sound Module - the heart of the VAD516
The V51 is the latest generation V-Drums module with the same multi-sampled sound library as the top-of-the-line V71. It offers unprecedented sound quality, extensive editing capabilities and an intuitive interface with large color screen. With the integrated DW Soundworks virtual drum software, you get a professional virtual drum instrument in the house. This plug-in or standalone software offers a huge collection of acoustic drum sounds for every genre - perfect for producers, drummers and songwriters. Use it within your DAW to program authentic drum parts or play directly through the module. The V51 module features built-in Wi-Fi, making it easy to download new kits, samples and extensions via the Roland Cloud Connect app. The module is future-ready thanks to the included 6-month Roland Cloud Ultimate membership, which gives you access to hundreds of premium sounds, artist kits, and iconic Roland instruments - from TR drum machines to classic synths. The V51 Editor software and V-Edit tools let you fully customize your own sounds - from pitch and sustain to microphone placement and effect routing. All changes are displayed in real time on the module's color screen.

New V-Drums Software Editor
A much-requested feature is finally a reality: a full software editor for the V-Drums. Via Roland Cloud, you can download the editor for free that lets you manage kits, adjust effects and combine sounds. The interface works just like in professional music production software, and all adjustments are synced directly to your module. This editor lets you quickly adjust complex settings - from equalizers to compression, ambience and trigger parameters - all with mouse control on a large screen.

Import your own samples
In addition to the extensive factory sounds, you can also import your own WAV files via SD card (SDHC, not included). For example, add handclaps, lo-fi percussions, electronic effects or loops to your kits. You can even load complete backing tracks or sound effects for live use - ideal for drummers who want to create unique shows.

Use in studio and live
The Roland VAD516 is perfect for both home recording and professional studios. Thanks to its USB-C audio interface, you send up to 32 separate audio channels directly to your DAW, without an additional sound card or microphones. The module also supports MIDI In/Out/Thru and functions as a USB-MIDI interface, so you can trigger external instruments or record your drums as MIDI data. For live use, there are stereo L/R outputs and direct outs, so you can send out different drum groups separately to the mixer or front-of-house. This way you keep full control of your sound during performances.

Bluetooth audio & MIDI
The built-in Bluetooth transmitter/receiver makes it easy to stream music from your smartphone so you can play along with your favorite tracks. Bluetooth MIDI supports wireless communication with music software and apps. Prefer to work wired? Then use the 6.35 mm Mix In input to connect an external device directly.

Practice features and coaching program
The V51 module helps improve your technique with smart practice features such as Time Check, Quiet Count, Phrase Trainer, Stroke Monitor and the new Blast Beat Builder. These tools analyze your timing, dynamics and speed and help you make daily progress. Whether you train for precision, power or speed - the VAD516 supports your development as a drummer.

Top-level pads and cymbals

PD-140DSX Digital Snare (14"): this digital snare contains eight independent sensors that precisely record every nuance: from soft ghost notes and rim shots to brush sweeps and cross-sticks. The PD-140DSX has a realistic 8-lug span frame and triple mesh skin for an acoustic feel and natural tension.

VH-14D Digital Hi-Hat (14"): a 2-piece hi-hat with multi-sensor system for maximum accuracy. Open, semi-open and closed positions are flawlessly recognized, including realistic foot splashes and manual damping. The sensitivity and dynamics are unmatched - as if you were playing on a real bronze cymbal.

CY-18DR Digital Ride (18"): Roland's most true-to-life digital ride to date. Thanks to multi-touch technology, you can mute the cymbal with your hand or hit it softer with a finger. The transition between edge, bow and bell is smooth and expressive, with no perceptible zones. This ride brings the expression of acoustic playing completely back to the electronic realm.

CY-14R-T & CY-16R-T Crash cymbals: the new generation of Roland crashes are thinner and more sensitive. The CY-14R-T (14") and CY-16R-T (16") offer realistic movement, natural choke function and sensors for bow and edge.

Full wooden kettles
The KD-20-MS kick drum is a 20-inch wooden kettle with natural rebound and improved sensor registration. The PDA100-MS, PDA120-MS and PDA140F-MS toms deliver the natural feel of acoustic drums, with adjustable tension via the mesh sheet.

Expandability
The V51 module includes four additional analog trigger inputs and three digital connections, so you can easily add additional pads or cymbals. Think of a second snare, extra crash, or a percussion pad. Your set grows with your musical ambitions.
