The Sennheiser MD 421 Kompakt delivers the same performance, cardioid pickup pattern, remarkable dynamic range and high SPL handling as the original, but in an appropriately named compact enclosure. Best of all, perhaps, our Klundert sound engineers were jumping for joy when they saw that the MD 421 Kompakt has a newly designed integrated microphone clip! And this version has an additional MZW clip, so you can easily attach the microphone to a tom or snare.

It is considered the go-to microphone for rack and floor toms and has been consistently used for percussive purposes for decades. Its 30Hz-17kHz frequency response and high SPL handling make it ubiquitous in professional and project studios. The Kompakt version delivers all that plus a smaller profile that is much less likely to be hit by a wayward drumstick.

Sennheiser has listened to the reviews and delivers the MD 421 Kompakt with a newly designed integrated microphone clip that is much more stable, safe and secure. And this version has an additional microphone clip for attaching to a tom or snare drum.
