The sound of a Performance is fat and "sticky" but without losing definition and tone. A great pop / rock kit in other words. Imagine a modern fat drum recording and you'll have an idea of what this DW sounds like acoustically. In addition, a Performance is not really inferior to DW's flagship and always custom-made Collector's. The big difference is the Performance's limited configuration and color choices and a lighter lugs design. Oh, and of course the price (about half). So Performance is a very high quality kit that is very attainable with a mid-range price. Please note; this is a shell pack consisting of a 22 "x18" kick drum, 10 "x8" and 12 "x9" toms and 16 "x16" floortom, so excluding snare drum, excluding stands, excluding tom suspension. North American Maple Shells
All Performance Series shells are built with DW’s patented HVX technique, which features 100% Maple plies with grains oriented in horizontal, vertical, and diagonal patterns for low, punchy fundamentals.

Bearing Edge
HVX shells are precision-cut with 45-degree (toms) and 60-degree (bass and snare) edges. These edges provide tonality and sustain from your toms, and depth and punch from your bass and snare.
