The Slingerland Radio King set is a classically designed drum kit hand built in Oxnard, California. The shells consist of a 3-ply construction of mahogany, poplar and mahogany, finished with a steam-bent maple re-ring and a 30-degree rounded bearing edge. This provides a smooth playing feel, distinct attack, warm timbre and full, open resonance. The hardware is nickel-plated and includes "Stick Saver" hoops, a floating tom suspension, robust 1/2″ floor tom legs and integrated dampers for added control over the sound. The set includes a 14″x6.5″ snare, a 13″x09″ tom, floor toms measuring 16″x16″ and 18″x16″, and a 24″x14″ bass drum.

The Radio King series
The Radio King series is considered Slingerland's most iconic product line. The drums were launched in 1936-1937 and were the brand's flagship product until 1957. After a brief absence, they reappeared between 1960 and 1962. Old Radio King drums are very popular with collectors today, and top drummers such as Gene Krupa and Buddy Rich were also closely associated with this series. In 2025, the Radio King series is making its comeback. Carefully re-engineered in Oxnard, California, these sets consist of a full range of Radio King drum kits and snare drums that deliver a warm, classic and timeless sound.
