The ARP 2600 is perhaps the most iconic and recognizable synthesizer of all time. The sound of the ARP 2600 has been used on countless records, in movie scores, TV shows and game soundtracks from the 1970s to the present, and remains an indispensable part of the music world.

The new ARP 2600 M delivers the sound admired around the world in a more compact and portable format, including additional features that make it the ideal incarnation of the historic synth.

Built in Japan with the same care and exceptionally high quality standards as the ARP 2600 FS, the ARP 2600 M uses the same analog components to accurately reproduce the sound and feel of the original. The Spring Reverb has been redesigned and adapted to the new cabinet dimensions to achieve the same rich effect.

It's no coincidence that the ARP 2600 is so enormously popular to this day. The ARP 2600 M is more than a synthesizer, it is a complete studio for sound design. Even today, the ARP 2600 bridges the gap between the individual elements of modular synthesis and the immediacy of a production or stage instrument.

ARP 2600 M Specifications

Included are a generous collection of oscillators, envelopes, a filter and an amplifier - all building blocks of analog synthesis. But the ARP 2600 M goes even further: with a spring reverb and even a pair of built-in monitor speakers. Also present is much of the versatility of a vintage modular system, including ring modulation, lag and voltage processors, an envelope follower, an audio preamp, a clockable switch, noise source, a sample-and-hold module, signal converters, an additional mixer and even a set of parallel-wired multi-connectors.

The new ARP 2600 M is not only true to the original, it also includes a range of additional features that make it even easier to use:

- Plug-and-play: connect a compliant MIDI controller, such as a KORG microKeys, nanokeys or SQ-64, to one of the ARP 2600 M's USB ports (USB-A and USB-B) and automatically get full control of the instrument!
- Customized dimensions: the new format makes it easier to visualize your patch and allows you to use shorter patch cables-
Two types of filter: two types of filters from two versions of the original ARP 2600 (4012 type, 4072 type)
- Pitch-bend, Modulation and Portamento ON/OFF can be controlled via MIDI CC messages (USB / DIN MIDI)
- Normalized voltage: the threshold of the trigger signal needed to activate the ADSR via the S / H GATE JACK has been lowered from 10V to 5V, making it much easier to use with other equipment such as volcas or Eurorack modules-
Improved Attack and Release time range-
L/R Stereo Output Jack (instead of XLR)
- Speakers are automatically turned off when using headphones-
Improved, smoother sliders

About Alan R PearlmanAlan

R. Pearlman was nicknamed "ARP" as a child growing up in New York City, so that seemed like the perfect name for a company he co-founded when he later designed electronic musical instruments. After leaving NASA, Pearlman founded ARP as an outlet of sorts, and dedicated himself to making instruments that are now known for their sound quality. Pearlman created the ARP 2500 in 1970 and then the classic ARP Odyssey and ARP 2600. One of Pearlman's most important skills was his ability to build oscillators that stayed in tune and also developed a wireless patching technique using a matrix of switches. ARP Instruments has built a legacy as a forerunner in the growth and development of the electronic music market.
