The Novation Summit is based on the powerful technology of the well-known Peak synth module. This 2-part, 16-voice synthesizer with three oscillators per voice is designed for the professional and semi-professional musician looking for an inspiring keyboard for both live and studio use. The Summit combines two Peaks into one device, so to speak, and gives you the ability to layer or split two completely independent patches across the keyboard, or to switch directly between them. The front panel is expanded over the Peak, with additional knobs and features such as FM routing, LFOs 3 and 4, full arpeggiator controls, and more. Of course, the pitch and modulation wheels are not missing.
In addition, the Summit features several new filter options and an audio input that lets you edit external signals with the built-in reverb, chorus and delay effects.
Impressively vivid analog sound
The beating heart of the Summit is three digital New Oxford Oscillators per voice, controlled via a powerful FPGA chip (Field Programmable Gate Array). This technology not only provides analog-sounding waveforms with extremely high resolution, but also enables FM and wavetable synthesis. The result: rich, harmonically complex and detailed sounds full of character. Each voice features a full stereo signal path with two analog filters, three analog distortion stages and analog voltage-controlled amplifiers (VCAs). Extensive modulation options and per-part effects such as distortion, chorus, delay and reverb add movement, energy and sophistication to your sounds.
Firmware v2.0: more creative freedom than ever
Novation continues to innovate and honors the work of synth designer Chris Huggett, who was instrumental in the development of the Peak and Summit. With firmware version 2.0, the Summit gets a major expansion of its already impressive capabilities. Explore layered, spatial soundscapes with new stereo editing tools, such as per-voice panning and panning via the modulation router (mod matrix). This lets you decide how to shape the stereo image. The update adds new modulation targets, makes it possible to use noise as a modulation source and provides additional parameters for LFO 3 and 4. This creates plenty of new sonic possibilities full of character and controllable unpredictability. Also new are the Animate Envelopes and the Arpeggiator Chance function, adding even more expression and variation to your playing. Effects have been expanded with new chorus modes, flanger and phlanger, plus new modulation options. For example, you can use the distinctive sound of a Lo-Fi delay as a creative tone shaper. This update makes the Summit an even more powerful and flexible sound design instrument.

Summit Overview // Novation
With its multi-timbral architecture and 16-voice polyphony, Summit is like two Peaks in one instrument, allowing two completely independent patches to be split or layered across the keyboard, or switched between while playing. But that's far from the end of the story: the addition of dual filters, greatly expanded front-panel controls, audio input and, of course, the same top-quality five-octave keyboard introduced with the SL MkIII MIDI controller puts Summit in a creative class of its own!
