Dingwall Combustion 3-4 Pau Ferro toets 2-Tone Black Burst (occasion)

This pre-owned Combustion was built in 2024 and is in excellent condition with minimal signs of wear. 

In addition to its prestigious Canadian custom shop instruments, Dingwall also offers a line of basses in the more affordable “Ready to Play” series. This series includes three models: the Combustion, the Combustion NG, and the D-Roc. The “regular” Combustion (the Combustion NG is Adam “Nolly” Getgood’s signature model) can be considered the most versatile “centerpiece” of the collection.

The body is made of swamp ash and—in most cases—features a quilted maple veneer top. The 5-piece maple neck comes with either a maple or pau ferro fingerboard, nickel-plated frets, and, of course, this bass also features the multiscale design. Standard on all Combustions is the active EMG preamp with two or three Dingwall FD-3N pickups. The two pickup configurations can be set up as a humbucker (side-by-side) or as a Jazz Bass (like Dingwall’s Super-J). Combustion basses are available in 4-, 5-, or 6-string models.

Compared to the NG model, the Combustion is the more versatile of the two and works perfectly across a variety of genres; the combination of the tonewood and the EMG preamp provides a slightly richer and broader tonal palette, while the NG is great if you’re looking for a sharp and aggressive tone (perfect for the application the NG was designed for: metal). In addition, the Combustion has a more traditional look and is available in several stylish colors.

In any case, the bass response and tightness are incredible on every Dingwall thanks to the multiscale design.
