The Focusrite Clarett+ 8Pre is a powerful USB-C audio interface for producers, engineers, bands, and studios that need plenty of connectivity options in a compact 19-inch rack module. With 18 inputs and 20 outputs, eight Clarett+ microphone preamps, and precise 24-bit/192 kHz conversion, this interface is built for serious recording, mixing, and production workflows. Whether you’re recording drums, vocals, guitars, synths, or an entire band, the Clarett+ 8Pre serves as a reliable hub for your studio.
Eight Clarett+ preamps with Air mode
The eight Clarett+ microphone preamps deliver plenty of headroom, low noise, and clear recording quality. Each preamp features the switchable analog Air mode. This feature uses impedance switching and is inspired by the sound of the classic Focusrite ISA preamps. It adds extra presence and openness to vocals, acoustic instruments, piano, percussion, and other sources that could use more definition in the mix.
Suitable for drums, bands, and extensive studio setups
With eight combined XLR/jack inputs, you can easily connect multiple microphones or line sources at the same time. This makes the Clarett+ 8Pre ideal for drum recordings, live sessions, band recordings, and hybrid studios with multiple instruments. The first two inputs can also be used as instrument inputs, allowing you to record your guitar or bass directly without a DI box. This lets you quickly switch between microphone recordings, line signals, and directly connected instruments.
Hi-Z JFET Inputs for Guitar and Bass
The two Hi-Z JFET instrument inputs are designed to accurately capture the natural sound and dynamics of guitars and basses. They respond well to your playing style and provide a direct feel while recording. This is ideal when working with amp simulations, effects plugins, or re-amping workflows. This allows you to quickly record guitar and bass parts with a clean signal that remains highly usable during mixing and post-production.

Precise conversion and comprehensive monitoring
The Clarett+ 8Pre features 24-bit/192 kHz conversion and offers a clean signal path with rich detail. The interface has ten balanced line outputs, two of which can be used as monitor outputs. This allows you to connect studio monitors, external hardware, outboard gear, or multiple monitor mixes. The two headphone outputs each have their own volume control, so you can work simultaneously with a vocalist, musician, or producer without needing an additional headphone amplifier.
Expansion via ADAT, S/PDIF, and Word Clock
For digital expansion, the Clarett+ 8Pre features ADAT inputs and outputs. This allows you to add extra channels or combine the interface with external converters and preamps. Coaxial S/PDIF inputs and outputs via RCA are also available for digital equipment. The Word Clock output allows you to tightly synchronize external digital devices with your studio setup. This makes the Clarett+ 8Pre a great fit for larger recording and production systems.
MIDI I/O for synths, drum machines, and controllers
In addition to audio connections, the Clarett+ 8Pre features MIDI in and MIDI out via 5-pin DIN connectors. This allows you to connect synthesizers, drum machines, MIDI controllers, or other MIDI devices directly. This way, you can use the Clarett+ 8Pre as a central hub in a studio where audio, MIDI, software, and hardware come together.
19-inch rack-mount format for permanent studio installations
The Clarett+ 8Pre is housed in a sturdy 19-inch chassis that is 1U high. This allows you to easily install the interface in a studio rack, flight case, or permanent setup. Operation remains intuitive thanks to the clear gain controls, meters, monitor control, dim and mute functions, and separate volume controls for the headphone outputs. This makes the interface a pleasure to use during recording sessions, mixing, and daily studio work.
USB-C connection for Mac, Windows, and iPadOS
The Clarett+ 8Pre connects via USB-C and works with Mac, Windows, and iPadOS. The interface uses an external power supply and comes with the necessary cables, so you can get started quickly. Thanks to the stable USB connection, low latency, and flexible routing via Focusrite Control, you can easily configure the interface for recording, monitoring, and mixing.
Complete software bundle included
The Focusrite Clarett+ 8Pre comes with a comprehensive software bundle, so you can get started right away with recording, producing, and mixing. This includes DAW software and a collection of plugins for vocals, guitar, drums, mastering, and mixing. This makes the Clarett+ 8Pre a complete solution for anyone looking for a studio interface with plenty of inputs, powerful preamps, digital expansion, and professional routing.
