Handcrafted with 100% North American maple, the 8-ply HVLT (Horizontal-Vertical-Low Timbre) shells deliver a warm, punchy tone with plenty of resonance and projection. The 16x22″ bass drum provides focused low-end power, paired with a 12x08” and 10x07” mounted tom and a 14x16″ floor tom for a versatile and powerful configuration. The chrome hardware features low-mass mini-turret lugs, triple-flange hoops, STM (Suspension Tom Mounts) for reduced tension on mounted toms, and True-Pitch Tuning for increased tuning control. This limited kit delivers a bold, powerful voice and the striking look of Titanium Satin Lacquer, built to stand out on stage and in the studio. 
 
 Thanks to low-mass mini turret lugs, triple-flanged hoops and True Pitch turnbuckles, the Design Series offers a great deal of freedom in tuning, while maintaining the natural resonance of the cymbals. 8-ply maple shells with HVLT construction
 Maple has been a popular wood type for drum kits for decades, and it's no different here. The Design Series maple shells provide a warm base with plenty of attack and definition, making them an effortless fit for both live and studio situations. Subtle dynamics and playing nuances remain readily audible without sacrificing body or presence. The 8-ply construction with alternating grain direction according to the HVLT process also ensures a stable shell with a clean, consistent tone. DW applies precisely cut bearing edges to this series: 45 degrees on the toms and 60 degrees on the bass drum. The 45° bearing edges ensure that the toms respond evenly to the batter vibration, resulting in a balanced response and efficient energy transfer. Instead, the 60° bearing edge of the bass drum enhances punch and low end, for a backbeat that comes in tight and convincing.

Thoughtful hardware in detail
 The Design Series is also carefully crafted in terms of hardware. The lightweight mini turret lugs reduce extra weight on the shell and allow the drum to resonate freely, without compromising stability. Combined with the triple-flanged hoops, they create an open soundscape with many tuning options, suitable for both low, deep tunings and tighter, more direct settings. The True Pitch tension screws better hold the chosen tuning during intensive playing. Thanks to rubber washers, unwanted loosening is prevented and everything stays reliably in place. All hardware parts also feature rubber grommets, ensuring a neat metal-to-shell connection with no side noises or rattling.
