The Focusrite Clarett+ 4Pre is a high-quality USB-C audio interface for musicians, producers, engineers, and small bands who need more recording channels in a compact studio setup. This interface combines four Clarett+ microphone preamps with precise 24-bit/192 kHz conversion, extensive digital connectivity, and a sleek desktop enclosure. This makes the Clarett+ 4Pre suitable for vocals, guitar, bass, keyboards, synths, external preamps, and a complete production setup.
18 inputs and 8 outputs for greater recording flexibility
With 18inputs and 8 outputs, the Clarett+ 4Pre offers plenty of connectivity options for a compact studio. On the front panel, you’ll find two combined XLR/jack inputs that can also be used as instrument inputs. On the back panel, there are two more combined XLR/jack inputs and four dedicated line inputs for additional equipment such as synthesizers, drum machines, samplers, or external preamps. This allows you to keep multiple sources connected and switch between them more quickly while recording and producing.
Four Clarett+ preamps with Air mode
The four Clarett+ microphone preamps deliver plenty of headroom, low noise, and an open recording sound. With the switchable analog Air mode, you can add extra clarity and presence to your recording. This feature uses impedance switching and is inspired by the renowned Focusrite ISA preamps. Especially with vocals, acoustic guitar, piano, percussion, and other detail-rich sources, Air helps give the recording more definition without requiring extensive plugin correction right away.
Hi-Z JFET instrument inputs for guitar and bass
The two front-panelinstrument inputs are Hi-Z JFET inputs. These are designed to naturally capture the dynamics and tone of guitar and bass. This makes the Clarett+ 4Pre ideal for guitarists and bassists who want to record directly with amp simulations, effects plugins, or re-amping workflows. The inputs respond well to your playing style and preserve the direct feel that’s so important when recording parts.

Precise conversion for recording, mixing, and mastering
The Clarett+ 4Pre features 24-bit/192 kHz conversion and is designed for a clean signal path with rich detail. The audio interface delivers a wide dynamic range, allowing you to hear exactly what you’re recording, mixing, and editing. The four balanced line outputs are suitable for studio monitors, external hardware, or alternative monitor mixes. In addition, the interface has two headphone outputs, each with its own volume control. This is useful when working with a vocalist, instrumentalist, or producer.
Expand via ADAT and S/PDIF
For larger sessions, the Clarett+ 4Pre features an optical ADAT input. This allows you to add extra input channels via an external 8-channel preamp, such as an OctoPre. In addition, the interface features coaxial S/PDIF input and output via RCA. This allows you to connect digital equipment without an additional conversion step. Thanks to these expansion options, the Clarett+ 4Pre grows with your studio as you add more microphones, instruments, or external hardware in the future.
MIDI I/O for Synths and Controllers
In addition to audio connections, the Clarett+ 4Pre also features MIDI in and MIDI out via 5-pin DIN connectors. This allows you to easily connect synthesizers, drum machines, MIDI controllers, or other MIDI devices to your computer. As a result, the Clarett+ 4Pre can serve as a central hub in a hybrid studio where audio, MIDI, and software come together.
USB-C connection for Mac, Windows, and iPadOS
The Clarett+ 4Pre connects via USB-C and works with Mac, Windows, and iPadOS. The interface uses an external power adapter for a stable power supply and comes with USB cables. Thanks to its sturdy desktop enclosure, clear meters, and intuitive controls, the Clarett+ 4Pre is a pleasure to use during recording, editing, producing, and mixing.
Complete software bundle included
The Focusrite Clarett+ 4Pre comes with a comprehensive software bundle, so you can start recording and producing right away. This includes DAW software and a collection of plugins for vocals, guitar, mastering, drums, and mixing. As a result, the Clarett+ 4Pre is a complete solution for anyone who wants to move beyond an entry-level interface and is looking for more inputs, better preamps, and professional expansion options.
