The Vic Firth 5B has a teardrop tip and is made of hickory; a hard, strong wood and therefore very suitable material for a drumstick in the broad sense and application.
Vic Firth drumstick pair with teardrop tip from the American Classic Hickory Series. Although a 5B stick is very common, it is a relatively thick and heavy stick and it is therefore on the heavy side compared to the reference of a common 5A stick. Usually this stick is preferred by drummers who play heavy; because the 5B is a bit thicker and heavier, it can handle a beating. Nylon tips provide articulate, bright cymbal sounds.
